T-shirt Quilt

Well I wasn't going to share this because I was totally not happy with the outcome, first quilt the seams just didn't come out straight and I couldn't figure it out, but my hubby just loves it and is always using it so, I figured I would.

It just goes to show you even if it isn't perfect in your eyes the person getting it can still get enjoyment out of one of your creations :)  My hubby for most of his career in the Air Force was on the  KC-135 and KC-10's crew chief, so alot of these shirts were collected in the Air Force.

I think it is hard to see in the picture but the fabric he picked out for the front in between the squares is a very small print of stars.  The back he picked out fabric that looks like the galaxy. I tied the quilt together instead of quilting it.

It is snowing as I type this but it doesn't seem to be really sticking yet.  My hubby went back to work last night, think he should have stayed home but he can't stand using that much sick pay on a cold he says.

At our Secret sister reveals at church I try to make a set of cards for the girl I had all year, since I haven't been able to make any the whole year for them or they would guess it is me, they may not be for them but they can give them away.  So I try to make them slim enough to be easily mailed and they don't have to use extra postage.  I am a little late getting them to my secret sister but I have been working on them in between the cards I need to get done and in the mail myself.  I have managed to get two done so far.

Stampin up-- Simply the best stamp set
Spellbinders-- fluer de lis rectangles, w/ sponging on the stenciled areas
K&co. paper
A touch of ribbon
Prima flowers, one has a brad the two top ones have Fashion bead paint in pink added to the centers

Hero Arts-- Friendly flags stamp set, stamped on tan and blue cardstocks using brown ink
DCWV-- Textured card base
BasicGrey -- paper
Forever in Time-- buttons

My husbands fever finally broke this morning, I was going to make him go to the doctors today if I had to drag him there but since his fever broke he says he is feeling better.

Most of our snow has melted just in time to get more tonight into tomorrow morning, I feel so bad for those that are just digging out and then they are getting more on top of it but sounds like there are still alot of areas that really need the extra moisture.

Thanks so much for stopping by and your sweet comments, I really do appreciate it,

I have some wonderful news to share, my daughter applied for and has received a full paid funding to go to Duke University.  So her and her husband (who also got in) will be moving to North Carolina this spring or summer.  They are both going for a Master of Divinity.  God has blessed them with their dream of going to this university for their degree and we are excited that they will be a whole days drive closer to us!!!

Hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend!!

Wishing you

Stampin up-- Of the earth stamp set
Spellbinders-- Labels 4 and Grommet tags
Best Occasion paper
Fiskar-- Upper Crest border punch
Stampendous-- Sincere sentiments

Hopefully this is the last sympathy card I will need for a very long time...

We were hit with alot of sleet mixed with snow today, it is just a sheet of ice out there and it is all over our windows also can't see out, you can just hear it hitting the house.  Luckily it started just as my husband and I was leaving the doctors office today, it only took us an extra 5 minutes to get home but others that waited were caught in bad traffic jams.  They were worried we may have too much ice on the lines and then with the winds we would lose power but so far so good, but it isn't expected to end until tonight so I am hoping we keep our electricity.

Hope this finds you all well and if you are in the line of this storm I hope you don't have to get out in it, stay safe and stay warm.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and your comments are much appreciated!

Heat Embossing Metal Challenge

This is my second post today, scroll down for my card for the ODBD animal challenge.

Ivanka had a challenge on her blog for using embossing powders on metal, and I just loved the look I knew I had to give it a try on a frame I had picked up quite some time ago and just never used.  You only have until midnight tonight to do the challenge, you can find out all the details HERE on her blog.

I went looking through my embossing powders and I had black, silver, gold, bronze and clear, and only one real color that I had left over from doing my daughters wedding invitations, it just so happens I think it is the same color that Ivanka used on her card.

Here is what my frame looked like before:

And here it is on the card:

K&co. Life's Journey Metal art (frame)
Zing -- Embossing powder, leaf color
$ store stamp, colored with Distress  and copics markers
Basic Grey-- Sugar Rush paper (top)
Melissa Frances -- Robin paper
Fiskars--  Border punch
Spool O' Ribbon-- Michaels store

Is anyone else into Downton Abbey?  I am so bummed this is the final one tonight for this season, I think this was the best one yet.

Our Valentine's

I used a card that Monika made for the inspiration for my hubby's Valentines card.

I wanted to go a little more rustic with mine, found out I didn't have any wing stamps, so I used Butterfly wings and just cut them in half.

Christna Renee'-- Butterfly stamp
Heart-- stamped onto red paper
Spellbinders-- Labels eight and Labels four dies
Inkadinkado-- Greetings/Salutations for sentiment and hearts
Walnut Distress ink

My hubby made me a card using a Decorating Magazine one of the girls in his office had that she was getting ready to throw away.

Isn't that neat how he did the design on the front and with the heart broken up it is a cross :)  He said the V's were hard to find.

The inside of the card was so creative and took the most time and it meant so much to me that he went through so much trouble to make sense out of just cutting out words and phrases, I think this has to be my favorite so far that he has done for me :)

The rose came from a paper doily that was on a bag of candy that his lady boss gave all the workers in my husbands shop.  He is quite the recycler.

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's day, and your weekend is great too:

Masculine Birthday Wishes

Wow the brick really came out a different color in all my photo's, I was going for a more masculine theme with this card, I stamped the tree onto designer paper from DCWV and then colored in the trunk with copic marker.

Hampton Art-- Tree stamp
Poppystamps-- Picket fence die
Tim Holtz Sizzix-- Bricked Embossing folder ( ink was placed on the embossing folder before embossing)
Fiskars-- Grass border punch
Gina K. -- Tag lines, stamped sentiment

Hope you all enjoy a nice Valentine's day today, I forgot that it was today since we are celebrating it tomorrow, I am all kinds of messed up, I will have to post my hubby's valentine's card tomorrow, if I get the time, he has the whole day off tomorrow, so not quite sure what all we are doing :)

You're Dino Mite

Nitwits collections-- Dinosaur stamp, colored with copics (dinosaur and tree) have been cut out , dinosaur dimentional adhesive
Faded Jeans Distress inks for the sky
Fiskar Grass punch
Spellbinders -- oval die tht I cut twice to get that shape under dinosaur
Faux stitching around base (grass) to match the stitching on the stamps

I colored the sentiment stamp in with distress inks and it came out all modeled like that but I left it thinking it might make for an interesting effect since I was going for the sentiment to be like the sun.

My Lighthouse card  that I posted a couple of days ago won the shining light challenge over at Our Daily bread designs.

Manger X-stitch

I have had this cross-stitching done for quite some time but I was looking for the right kind of wood I wanted it to be framed in.  A guy my husband use to work with when in the military decided to take down all the barn wood look he had down in his basement from when he bought his house and was mentioning to my husband he needed to find someone that might like it, my hubby said well I don't know if I want all of it but it sounds like just the kind of wood Connie wants me to make a frame for one of her Cross-stitchings.   Wellll that was a year ago, LOL!  And this year when I was planning on making him his T-shirt quilt for Christmas he asked me what I would like him to make me and I said a frame, and here is the results :)

This is as close as I could get and get it all in the picture.  Yes every inch of that is cross-stitching, I can't remember how long it took me to do but it looks great in the frame, nice and rustic looking.

Here it is letting you see all of the frame too, it was worth the wait to get it :)  If you are interested in who the Kit came from just let me know, I didn't take the time to look it up, but if your interested in doing one for yourself I will be happy to look it up for you :)

The sun is shining here once again and that is always a good thing, I am thankful that we have been getting plenty of rain because now we are out of extreme drought but the sun just always lifts my spirits!!

Hope you all have a Terrific week,

Our Daily Bread Designs challenge this week is to case someone's card that you admirer. You can find all the details about the challenge HERE on their blog.

When I saw how Angie colored this lighthouse I just knew I needed this stamp, and this is my take on it.

ODBD --Keep my Lamp Burning (lighthouse) and All Occasion sentiments (sentiment)
DCWV-- Rustic Paper
Martha Stewart-- Border punch
Scoring, above the punched border and above the image

I cut out the lighthouse and gave it some dimension, the background was done with chalk and distress inks.  The card measures 4 3/4 by 6 3/4 inches.

I grew up in Michigan and there is nothing better than watching a sunrise or sunset over the water.  I always feel so close to God in those situations, his creation is just amazing!!!

There are many more wonderful inspiration for this stamp and others over at Our Daily Bread Designs in their gallery.

My Daughter and Son in law are in Boston, getting ready for the big storm to come their way, I told her to take plenty of pictures, something they can share with their kids some day :)

Hope everyone stays safe and enjoys a wonderful weekend,

Whoop dee dooo!

I am mixing some old with new today, I was organizing my dies the other day and came upon these cuttlebug dies that are so old they are from when I first bought my cuttlebug machine, many years ago :)  I told myself the next child's card I do I need to use them, and here is what I came up with.

Cuttlebug-- Celebration Stamps-- embossing folder and die, colored in the present ribbon and tag after embossing
Cuttlebug-- Natural dies (behind the stamp)
G.C.D. -- Funhouse paper
Spellbinders -- Ribbon Banners die
Stampendous -- Birthday Assortment sentiment stamp

Admit one was allready on the paper, and the spellbinder die and sentiment are my new things.

We recieved 4 inches of snow yesterday, the most I have seen, it snowed while we were gone when my Dad died but we weren't here for that.  I also was hit by something, not really sure, it may be a combo of a cold and touch of flu, I had the high fever and chills, but I also have a full chest and coughing and sneezing, my stomach is raw feeling and gurgling but thankful that is all.  Sure hope I feel better by the time craft night rolls around, I need some fun time with the girls :)

Hope you had a fun weekend,

This was for my nephew in his late 30's, he is quite the outdoorsman, so I hope he liked this and it was masculine enough :)

K&co.-- Flora & Fauna diecut cardstock and vellum (bird images and sentiment tag)
7 Gypsies-- Conservatory paper

This card didn't take long at all to make, but it is one of my favorites!

We had some errands to run yesteray and when we were getting ready to leave the mall we looked outside and you could barely see the parking lot the snow was coming down so hard, it was so pretty, I was thankful that the roads were not bad driving home, heard later there were a few accidents but our drive home was very good.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend,
Stay warm,
