Forgotten Treasures/ Baby

I needed a baby card for a young couple that is having a baby soon.  I decided to go to the baby stickers I had collected many years ago and the paper I got free from an order at Ellen Hutson's site, the little images of rattle and booties at the bottom were cut out of the paper pad.  She is having a boy.

Frances Meyer -- Blue baby stickers
Crate paper -- Little boy blue paper pad
Spellbinders -- Creative Labels One
Recollections -- lace
David Tutera -- Celebrate sentiment

I did a little sponging of ink around the card and sentiment.

I just copied the last update from yesterday about Evelyn:

We have had a few questions about how much food Evelyn is getting. Her feeds are continuous through the feeding tube except for when she is able to take a bottle, then the feeding tube is paused for an hour. It takes approximately 29.5ml to make 1oz. In a 24 hour period at 8ml she will get 6.5 oz for the entire day. At 9ml an hour she will get 7.3 oz for the day. She would eat 2-3oz at a time if the doctors would let her, but her body can't tolerate that yet. They are increasing her now to see how much her body will tolerate but trying not to push her too much too fast.

After posting I checked my blog and it looks like all that I wrote after this paragraph that I copied and pasted from facebook left the rest of my post highlighted, not sure what happened there, can't seem to fix it either, sorry about that.

She also had a visitor from the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team yesterday, so they had quite the excitement around there, they are big Cardinals fans :)

I either caught something or am a bit dehydrated from all that we have been doing outside in this heat.  I am trying to drink more today and see if that is it, so it will be an all indoor day today for me.

Hope you are doing well and staying cool, it sounds like most of the country is dealing with this heat.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and would love to hear from you!

Relax

I just love this little guy, he sure is enjoying himself.  He makes for a nice relaxing summer card.  I thought this die would work great with the sunflowers so at the very end before attaching it t my card I decided to color the flowers around the edges with my maker and stickles for the center :)

Stampabilities -- Hammock Hibernation stamp colored w/markers
Spellbinders -- Decorative Labels eight die
BasicGrey -- Lilykate paper
Stickles -- Cinnamon (border flower centers)

Update on Evelyn -- Her incision is healing well, her bowel movements are all working well. She is up to 5ml an hour on the milk and doctor says if she keeps doing ok with increasing they will keep increasing her intake.  They took her off her nutrition IV for 4 hours yesterday, this was quite encouraging to them because they didn't except that to happen so soon.  Thanks again for all your prayers for this sweet little one.

I am sharing this post with Stephanie's Roses of Inspiration Link up , hope you get a chance to stop by and check out the other posts and don't forget to check out Stephanie's Etsy shop she has a coupon code to get 15% off your order this month and free shipping in United States, you can't beat that :)

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend and are having a wonderful week so far!

Thanks so much for stopping by and letting me know you did,

Water Challenge

The challenge from my group was to make a water scene on your card.  Since my Son in Law's birthday is coming up and my daughter mentioned they are heading to the coast shortly after his birthday I thought that would be a good card for his birthday.  I used quite a few stamps out of the same stamp set to make this scene.  Wink of stella was added to the sun, lighthouse and the waves to give it some sparkle.

Inkadinkado -- Coastal/Maritime stamp set-- markers added to build the scene and color the sun
Distress inks -- Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon for sky and water
Cloud 9 design -- Simple thoughts Quote stickers
Wink of Stella -- brush clear glitter pen

An update on Evelyn -- She had her first bowel movement late Friday night, this is what we were praying for and she has had another since so things seem to be working well there.  Last night they started her on milk again, 3ml in an hour through a tube, if all goes well they will allow 3ml by mouth today, so we are praying that she tolerates this all well.  Thanks again for all your prayers and well wishes for her.

We have a very rainy start to our Sunday, hope you have been enjoying a great weekend and have a blessed Sunday!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Update and card

Good Morning, Little baby Evelyn's fever broke yesterday afternoon, thank you all for your prayers and good wishes for her.  I guess the nurses had to wear yellow cover up's until they ran some tests but they came back good so they didn't have to wear them anymore, not sure what all that means.  As of late last night she was still waking up startled and would cry but they still have her on Morphine and the Tylenol. Daddy had to talk Mom into going home and getting some rests since she hadn't slept the night after surgery, they had a nurse coming in from NICU to stay with her so she went home.  It's early so there hasn't been another update.  Thanks so much again for your prayers, we all appreciate them very much.

Now onto my card for today.  I came across my little beads and thought I need to use them for a center of a flower.  That was the start to this card.  I colored the die cut flower with markers.  The Background was watercolored with distress inks, and then sprayed with glimmer mist.

Distress inks
Tattered Angels -- glimmer mist in gold
Memory Box -- Dogwood Blossoms die, colored w/markers
Beads for center of flower
Martha Stewart --Caning pattern punch around the page punch
Sequins

We were blessed with a couple of days in the 80's but the humidity and 90's are coming back starting today, so it should be a very HOT weekend they say.  Hope you all enjoy your weekend and stay cool.

Thanks so much for stopping by, so good to hear from you,

Connie

Baby Evelyn

No card today, asking for prayers for little baby Evelyn, I forgot to mention in my post Tuesday that Evelyn was going into surgery on Wednesday to attach her small intestine to her colon.  The surgery went well but she had a very rough night last night. She has a very bad fever 102 and is crying.  I would ask that you pray for this sweet little girl, she is 2 months old.  In case you haven't read my past posts this little girl is the first daughter of friends of ours from church.

Here she is after surgery.

Here she is at 2am this morning, Momma is putting cool wash cloth on her in hopes of helping with the high temperature, they are giving her Morphine and Tylenol and she is still crying.

Here is one last picture of this sweet angel before her surgery.

I appreciate you praying so much as do her parents!

Welcome

Made a card to Welcome our new Pastor here and congrats on finding a new home,

I added yellow paper behind the houses and have all the doors open, I thought his three young boys might like that you can open the doors.  The tree was cut from white cardstock and colored with markers. The sky was sponged with distress ink in tumbled glass.

Poppytstamps -- Brevilla Houses and Stitched Landscapes dies
Spellbinders -- Whimsical tree
Taylored Expressions -- Many mini Occasions sentiment stamp

I forgot to let you know that Randy was released from the hospital a couple days ago and is even walking a bit now around his block, I guess the broke ribs is the most painful thing he feels he is dealing with. I will share the card I made for him next time.

Thanks so much for taking the time out to stop by and say Hi,

Boy in tree

My niece has been posting pictures of my great nephew up in trees on facebook and so that gave me an idea of what stamp to use on his card.  I tried using some colored pencils a friend from church gave me when she moved away and I am not sure if they blend as well as my others do.

Katy Sue Designs -- Simpler Times stamp, colored with pencils
Papertrey ink -- Hodge Podge papers
Technique Tuesday -- Happy Birthday sentiment stamp set
Bazzill -- Brads

I went to a stamp show this past Saturday and bought a few more stamps and although I said I would buy no more paper, I indeed couldn't pass up buying Our Daily Bread papers, they are just beautiful and they were having a deal to get a free pad and who can pass that up.

Hope your week is off to a great start, and you are managing to keep cool if you are in the states dealing with all this heat.  Our heat index yesterday was up to 115 degrees, we went for our walk early yesterday but I still came back drenched it was so hot.  Today is yard work day so it should prove to be another warm day out working since it is only 7 am here and we are at 83 degrees already.

I am sharing my card with Stephanie's Roses of Inspiration link up if you have time stop by and check out the list of goodies to check out.

Thanks so much for taking the time out of your busy summer to stop in and say Hi,

Connie

Forgotten Treasures

I told my hubby I want to make cards with all my stuff I bought so long ago, inspired by the challenge we had last month with my card making group, to use something we had purchased when we first started cardmaking, I would like to do it at least once a month and thought I would name the post the same thing every time, but I couldn't think of a name.  He came up with Forgotten Treasures and I really liked that.

My first card is using a tile sticker I found at the $ store.  I didn't have many stamps back then so I had to find stickers and use clip art from my CD's.  I added stickles to his wings to give them some shine, did a little piercing too.

I haven't been to a dollar store in quite some time so I don't know if they have anything like this still but there was 3 of these images to a sheet.  I encourage you to go back and dig through your old forgotten treasures, whether it is old fabric, yarn, paint, beads, stamps or stickers and make something new with them.

Tile Cover stickers
Paper from scraps pile
Stickles -- Diamond (on wings)
Spellbinders -- Ribbons tags trio die
Die-namics -- Your just my type sentiment stamp set
Buttons found at a flea market

Thank you for sharing your sympathies for my cat we lost, it is so weird to go from 3 furbabies to just one in such a short time.  Peanut is starting to get back to her old self she was acting quite funny there for awhile, she has known them all her life since she is 15 years old now.

Hope your week is off to a great start!
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Connie

Christmas in July

Our challenge this month was to use at least one stamp on our Christmas card.  I had this new stencil and even though it is a quilting template I imagined it all sparkle in my head and how that would make a pretty background for a Christmas card.  I ended up making 4 different panels when I was playing around so you will be seeing this background again soon I am sure.

This was my first time using Molding paste with a stencil, after lifting up the stencil I added the glitter to the wet paste and let it dry over night.  Although it doesn't show great detail I still think I like the results, other than I think next time I would use Ultra fine glitter, this glitter is a bit chunky.

Studio 490 -- Vintage Quilt Stencil
Golden -- Molding paste
Silver glitter
Inkadinkado -- Holiday Silhouettes stamp
Silver Detailed embossing powder
Cream Shimmer paper
Bazzill -- Brads

Our cat Jip (Anna's sister)  has passed away yesterday.  She had all the same signs that Anna went through when she passed, so instead of taking her through all the testing, we decided to just let her go.  The day before I spent the whole day with her, we sat out on the deck and she watched the birds fly around and we did a lot of cuddling.  She was a lot of work for me because of her seizures, and I just accommodated to it all over time, now that she is gone my husband and I were talking about all the things we don't have to worry about anymore and it just seems so weird.  Poor Peanut doesn't really know what is going on now that Anna and Jip are both gone, she gave Jip kisses before we left, I think with my crying she knew something was up.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend, we are back to summer temps again, in the 90's for the next week.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Connie

Get well

One of the girls from my on line cardmaking group asked if we could make a card for her friend that just had a heart attack.  She is single and doesn't have much family so she thought receiving lots of cards would help cheer her up.

I attempted to ink the stamp in different colors for the word rainbow and Blue, but I ended up going over that part with a blue marker and the portion that is green in rainbow is also gone over with a marker, it was just to light of ink to read.  The border has been colored with a marker, thought it needed a touch of color too.  The paper and the tag came from a British card making magazine, I just added a spellbinder die behind tag so it wouldn't blend in with the paper so much.

Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady paper and tag from Cardmaking and Papercrafting magazine
Spellbinders -- Classic ovals and Big scalloped Ovals dies
JustRite -- My Rainbow stamp set
Lace
Enamel Accents -- white
Brad

We spent the day yesterday over in St. Louis visiting Randy and baby Evelyn at two different hospitals.  Randy has his chest tube out now and his scraps on the outside are healing, his clavicle that he broke along with his ribs are still hurting pretty bad but they will be taking him off the epidural possibly today and if he can tolerate the pain, he may be going home soon. They have started Physical Therapy on his legs and have him walking.

Baby Evelyn is doing pretty good, they have given her a surgery date in a couple of weeks to try and connect her small intestine back up, she is just a little angel, even with all the wires I was able to hold her for a few minutes.  I forgot to ask her mom if it would be ok for me to share some pictures of her on my blog so I will have to do that and maybe share closer to the date of her surgery.

I thank you so much for your prayers for both of our friends.

Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hello, I appreciate it,

Connie

You're the best

I forgot to share the card I made for my hubby for Father's day!  He likes Owls and Ravens so I liked the idea of using an Owl for his card.  The owl was done on the Cricut machine, his branch had to come from a tree trunk right?  Hope that is what that looks like, it was so funny I didn't put the card in an envelope I just handed him the card after we got home from church that day and he said oh now that's cool, and I said well glad you like it and he said Oh is this one for me :)

Cricut -- Give a hoot cartridge, ink shading and Liquid Pearls in Chestnut for the eyes
Tim Holtz -- Woodgrain embossing folder, inking on the raised parts and sides
WeRmemory Keepers -- Anthologie papers
Hot off the press -- Dazzles- tiny words and phrases stickers, colored with markers

I need to get my cricut out and make up a few more things, I like having them done already so when I want to put a card together they are ready to add to my card.

I am sharing my card over at Stephanie's Roses of Inspiration link up, why don't you stop by and check out what the others are posting this week.

I want to thank all of you for praying for our friend Randy he is doing much better now, he is out of ICU, they had to drain his lungs of blood and that was quite painful but he is feeling better afterwards.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  We actually went a couple of days without any rain so that has been nice.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and say Hello,

Birthday Daisy

When I had done the last card, I had two pieces that I had embossed, the first one I had a little problem with the vellum cracking even though I ran it through the embossing folder with a piece of light weight paper which helps with that happening, when I had to go make a card for my nephews wife I decided to just cut off that chunk and still use it.  I am apart of two cardmaking groups on line and this groups challenge was to make a card with green and yellow so that is what determined my colors here.

The daisy's have been colored with a yellow distress marker on the back side of the vellum and the brads were originally white so I colored them with a yellow spectrum noir pen.  The little gems and butterfly are also yellow.

Darcie -- Large Daisy Embossing folder
Vellum
BasicGrey -- Lilykate paper
Bazzill Brads -- colored yellow
Martha Stewart-- butterfly punch
Me & my big ideas -- gems

Hope you all enjoy a Fun and safe Independence day!! My hubby has to work, so we will be missing out on the fun this year.

I thought I would share a cross-stitching I did a few years back and I made it into a wall hanging.

Sending Hugs

A friend lost her sister at the age of 82.

I used vellum in the embossing folder and then colored the back side with a white distress marker.

Darcie -- Large Daisy embossing folder
Vellum
Distress marker -- picket fence
We R memory keepers -- Anthologie paper
David Tutera -- Celebrate sentiment pack

I thought I would also share a little visitor my husband came across a couple days after our flooding.  He was mowing and felt a bit of a jerk when he looked this turtle was there.  He didn't harm it thank goodness and he brought it up to the porch for me to have a look.  So I ran and got the camera, he never did pop his head out, and it is too dark in the picture for you to see his head tucked in there.  We have a pond at the top of our road so we were going to take it up there after my hubby finished mowing but we couldn't find the little guy.

He was about the size of a football I would say.
We have more flooding in the ditch today but it is a foot or so from our fence.  I wish so much we could share some of this rain with those of you that need it so bad.

A guy from our church in his 50's was in a bad motorcycle accident yesterday, I guess a car didn't see him, but he is in ICU, his wife is in my craft group at church, if you could take a few moments to pray for him I would really appreciate that, his name is Randy.

I also took a fall while carrying a box of kindling from our garage out back to our wood pile, I bruised the side of my eye where my glasses were pushed onto my face, my arm is quite sore, hard to hold anything to heavy, my knee isn't as bad and I also had a splinter of wood in my head, my husband was trying not to laugh while trying to get it out for me the next day, just imagining how I must have fell to get a splinter in the top of my head, he said that will be the last time I am walking while carrying stuff in that grass.  He thinks it was a combination of the ground being so soft from all that flooding and the moles making mounds too.  I am just thankful I didn't break anything.

Hope you all are doing well and having a blessed week!
