Teen card and Mesa Arch

Hi all, this is going to be a picture heavy post, it just took to long to decide which ones to post of our trip, so stick with me :)

First I want to share a card I made for another great nephew who is turning 17.  It won't be long folks and I will have great great nieces and nephews :)  When I saw this t-shirt die at the stamp store over in Missouri for 40% off I just couldn't pass up buying it for teen cards.

I found a stamp to go with the paper I found, stamped the sentiment on the shirt and added some nailheads to the upper left corner and I was done.

Die-Namics -- Jersey die
Gina K -- taglines sentiment stamp set
Recollections -- Awesome boy paper
Mark Richards -- Brass Nailheads

This first picture is one that I forgot to post with my other pictures from Arches National park, but I just love the contrast and all the different textures.

The rest of the pictures I am sharing today are from Mesa Arch area of the Canyonlands National park Utah.

We woke up at 4:30 am to make the 45 minute drive to Mesa Arch before the sunrise. It was so pitched black dark when we got there and had we had to walk with just a flash light to see the path ahead of us, I believe it was about a 1/2 mile walk out to Mesa Arch from the parking lot.  We got to a certain point in the path that it was just to step for me to try to go on any farther so I told Greg to go ahead and I would stay there and wait for him.  He didn't want to leave me alone out there, not sure what kind of animals may be around and such but I told him I would be ok.  He left me the flash light and went on the rest of the way to the arch.

This picture is as the sun was coming up.  I told you it was dark out there :)

You can see a bit of the orange now, you may have to click on the picture to see but about in the middle do you see a light shinning, that is someone at the arch shinning a light onto the arch.

Here you can see all the people gathering to get their place.

This  next picture gives you a little better idea of how far away I was from the arch.

I so love the sky in this next picture.

Now we are seeing a bit of the sunrise reflecting on the bottom of the arch now.

The sun was getting so bright now I was about blinding myself, I put on my sunglasses and would just look through the viewfinder enough to just check to see that I was getting a straight shot.

I hope you can see the glow of the sun on the arch in this one, of course I can see it good on my big monitor, you may have to click on them to really see.

This one is a bit grainy but you can really see the glow on the arch in it and all the people that were there trying to capture the sunrise on the arch.

This last picture is what was to the right of me, you can't see it very well but the sun was shinning on these rocks so pretty.

It was quite the adventure that morning, I had never been out like that so early in the morning and to watch the sunset come up from complete darkness was totally amazing, and yes in the early afternoon we went back to our hotel and took a nap, LOL!

Thanks so much for stopping by today,

Connie

What a fun card, I do like that t shirt die, it looks so useful for teen cards and to put sentiments on. The paper pack is really fun too.

Your sunrise photos are amazing, I was so surprised to see in the last photos all the people sitting there! What a fun experience.

Wow, Connie that was spectacular! That was an adventure!
Everyone should get up and go see the sunrise somewhere stunning once or twice in their life. I have been to see it rise on the Winter Solstice on a high granite Tor (outcrop) in Cornwal, but the magnificent rock formations of Utah beat that, I think :)
Great Nephew card ~ the studs, the whole thing is 'well cool' as they say over here. Not easy, a card for a 17 year old lad.
My best to you!

It's really hard making cards for teenagers, especially guys. This is perfect! Love your vacation photos too.

What a great find at the stamp store, Connie! I can visualize it with pattern papers, too! Darling way of showcasing a sentiment, isn't it? Great teen card!

Gorgeous photos! Your first of Arches National Park reminds me of a game we used to play in the desert, when camping. Looking around or down upon rock formations, we would say what the shapes remind us of! In the foreground of this photo, the center rocks closest to the viewer remind me of a giant desert land tortoise! The head and front legs are on the left, the curved, armored shell is the middle, and the rock in front of that bush is one of the hind legs (we can't see the other) LOL - not that you wanted to know what a whack-o I am! LOL

One of my favorite past-times! Watching the sun come up! On a moonless night, the colors are breath-taking, and the light springs colors across the sky before the actual daylight greets us! So glad you shared this special moment with us.

We used to drive from Southern CA to Las Vegas in the night-time hours back in the 50s, and as we came over the mountains, the sun would greet us exactly as that gorgeous sun burst in photo 11 of 14. What a great memory you brought to my mind! Thank you!

Try as we might, we shall never beat Nature at creativity, will we?

hugs,
de

It was a fun shoot weezie but I was so worried when I left you behind on that cliff until it got light enough for me to see you and know you were ok. Good shots it's neat to see what it looked like from farther back.

What a fun card you've made :-)Super cute!

The trouble with going on wonderful hikes is--- that you keep going and going because it is so beautiful... not realizing that you've got to turn around and WALK back lol All I can think of is... that long walk back you had lol beautiful photos none the less lol

Oh, Connie, what a perfect tee shirt die! You are going to get a lot of use out of it, and what a fabulous card you've made. Yes, isn't it strange how quickly the family kids grow? Now, I have to say I am totally in LOVE with the photos Greg took. WOW, what an amazing park and amazing display of God's beauty. I can see why people were vying for their places as the sun was beginning to rise. What an experience. Thank you for sharing these, sweet friend. Hugs!

Well, of course you couldn't pass it up! That's the most perfect teen card! The yellow looks so good with the awesome paper. And your photos! Wow! I really love the dark photo with the light just starting to show. I love mornings like that. You made quite a trek even if you didn't go the last steep bit. Thanks for sharing ALL of them!
