Sunflowers

Sunflowers are so pretty, I haven't planted them this year, after last year when the rabbits decided to eat them just as they were getting about 3 inches high I got discouraged and didn't try them again, maybe next year I will start them in the house and see how it goes.

I started out with white cardstock and colored the sunflowers with my Spectrum noir markers.  The biggest sunflower in the set has a separate center that I embossed and added to the center of the flower, the smaller ones I colored through the holes in the die to get the brown center. Shaped the flowers and leaves a bit, the embossing in the leaves is part of the die set.

The sentiment tag is out of the same die set as the framing , sponged the center while the paper was still inside the die, and added a bit of bling.

Spellbinders -- Sunflower two set and Resplendent Rectangles dies
Stampendous -- Birthday assortment sentiment stamp set
Queen & co. -- Sunflower yellow gems

Thanks so much for stopping by today and letting me know you did,

Connie

Sunflowers are such cheerful flowers! I have tried to plant them in the past but the squirrels and groundhogs would nibble them up before they would bloom.

I love sunflowers, too, Connie! Such a pretty card! One year I grew hundreds of them for my daughter's wedding and I had to cover them with netting to keep the critters away. I went through so much netting that year....sending hugs xo Karen

Such a pretty creation Connie! Don't give up planting them ... yes they are beautiful. There are products at your home improvement store to deter these little varmints without harm ... and it works! The birds (or squirrels) planted a sunflower along my driveway a couple years ago and it was beautiful ... I left it there till end of fall and the birds came and enjoyed the 'fruits of their labors' before I pulled it out of the ground. Was found to watch it's progress ...

There's my sunflowers! They look fabulous here, but even better in person. Thank you, Connie! Sunflowers sprout up here from the bird seed, but they're always in a shady spot and no chance that they'll do well. The birds sure do love sunflower seeds!

Oh, Connie, what a gorgeous card with one of my favorite flowers! These are gorgeous, and what a beautiful layout! Yes, squirrels are also a nuisance when trying to grow these flowers, so you might want to think about putting them in a protected area from them. But they sure are lovely as they turn to keep facing the sun! Hugs, sweet friend! xoxo

One of my favorite flowers...even the name is so cheery! Your card is gorgeous, and I love your idea of coloring the brown dots using the die.
