Out on a Limb

I think other times that I have used this stamp set I have only used one animal or bird in the tree, but I decided to use both this time.  I got my inspiration for this card by the squirrels that have decided to share the bird feeder with our birds.  No matter what we do they are determined to eat out of it and there is no corn in the seed we buy. This is for my great nephew who turned 21, this age is hard to make cards for, not young anymore but he is in medical school so he isn't exactly older either.

I stamped the tree base and then the leaves, colored the squirrel with markers and cut him out and used a couple of different small ink pads to ink the bird and cut him out.

Darcie's-- Out on a limb stamp set
Spellbinders -- Deckled Rectangles and Labels trio dies
Cosmo Cricket -- Fleuriste paper
Kraft paper with distress inks added
Martha Stewart -- Leaf punched border
Liquid Pearls -- Chestnut

We only have a few days left in 2016.  Hope you enjoy a great weekend!
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Connie

this is such a cute card, i really like everything about it. especially that the squirrel is above the bird - you will find that it will always be that way!!

try an old fashioned slinky, attached to the bird feeder, just hanging onto the pole. that will work. if they are free hanging feeders, the squirrel proof ones they sell in bird stores and lowes usually work!! it's always a challenge. if you put corn and nuts out for them, it usually keeps them off the feeders as well!!!

It is a very cute scene, but the colors are really dark and masculine, I think.

Squirrels can be so tenacious!

What a cute scene card you have created Connie! I'm sure it will be greatly appreciated.
I used to have the same squirrel problems at my feeders but then I spent the extra cash and bought feeders that spring down to 'close' the feeding hole with the weight of the squirrels. It didn't take them long to realize it was useless to climb on it and now just eat what the birds throw out on the ground. I use strictly sunflower seeds in those feeders and place corn on 12x12 paving stones in another part of the picnic area. Lately I've had more trouble with the deer nudging my feeders to dump all the seed on the ground ... just can't win sometimes! LOL
Happy New Year!

Hi Connie, very cute - I love the design. We don't have corn in the bird seed we buy either but the squirrels just love the sunflower seeds.

Happy New Year to you and your family!

Awww, that's cute! I LOVE the tree and, of course, the critters. Our squirrels don't eat out of the bird feeders, but the birds do eat out of the squirrel feeders. The critter crunch has sunflower seeds in it, which all the birds love, but also our large jays will eat the corn. The deer have found the squirrel feeders now, too, and can reach one of them. Sheesh. Happy new year, Connie!
