Sunflowers

I went back to a Sunflower stamp from 2010 today for my birthday card I needed. This is the first time I tried water coloring it. My sister in law gave me some water color paper and it was a bit thin and the colors didn't seem to mix well, but I think it came out ok.  I wonder if the thinner watercolor paper would be good for backgrounds, that is what I am going to try next with it.

  • Northwoods Rubber stamp - 2010, watercolored
  • K&co. - Birthday and celebrate vellum stickers sentiment
  • Stampin up - Regal enamel shapes

I will be sharing my card today with the following challenges:

The Flower Challenge - Use a sentiment

Retro Rubber challenge - Anything goes

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today,

Connie

  1. Such a pretty vase filled with joy! A job well done, painting those sunflowers. All watercolor papers are definitely not equal. I think this turned out beautifully!

  4. What a lovely image, this is beautiful! I adore how large it is and takes up the whole front panel. Perfect water coloring on the flowers and that vase--not so easy at times! Well done!

  5. Your card is beautiful. Who doesn't like sunflowers!? Ahh, so the thinner watercolour paper isn't as good. Hmmm. That explains it for me. Will make that change over. Hope your weather is turning warm like ours is again. Talk to you on the other side--LOL

  8. Beautiful water coloring and card! I like the Canson brand of water color paper and their mixed media paper is really good too. Our Walmart used to carry it, but just recently switched brands.

  9. Connie, I've never met a sunflower stamp that didn't stay fresh forever! I have a few oldies of my own that I still love!
This is a fabulous first try with a new paper - love the etched shadow from that stamp, too.
Thanks so very much for sharing it with us at The Flower Challenge!

  12. I think your water coloring on this image is gorgeous. I don't do much water coloring as it take a bit of time and practice and I seem to run out of the time to practice. Someday....

  13. That's a beautiful stamp and it does a good job of making the whole card. I love it with the pretty shade of blue you used. Watercolor paper comes in all types. If you don't like it for watercoloring an image it might make great backgrounds. This looks beautiful to me!
