Mum Blooms

Now I know spring is coming and usually we think of Mums in the Fall but I just got these Memory Box - Magnificent Mum Floral blooms dies and had to use them from the new release. The Memory box - Windswept stems are new too and thought would look great with the mums.

First I cute the mums out of brown cardstock, then I applied them to a piece of paper that I liked the colors but wasn't a heavy pattern to it and loosely cut around them.

Since I only had 3 flowers I decided to cut off one of the stems and add it to the previous set to get the 3 stems I wanted. Dies are so much easier to adapt for our cards than stamping.

I also added a pretty border using the Poppystamps -- Tailored Stitches die and then took my distress inks and added a bit of shading to the borders to give it a bit of a vintage feel to the card.

In case any of the dies are out of stock at the time of the posts there is a tab you can click to put you on a waiting list.

Also you still have time to apply for the new design team for Dies R Us, you can find out all the details HERE.

Here are the dies used in the card today.

Such a pretty card Connie! I love the new dies you have used, (more to add to my ever growing wish list!) The flowers just gorgeous, backed with such pretty paper. The vintage border you have created, makes the perfect frame.

this is beautiful connie, do i always say that...yes, i always say that. i need to be more creative. and although this looks like a mum, it could be a dahlia and they will be blooming in summer. i like your 3's, always a good visual, always a good balance!!!

I like that little touch of color you've got showing in the flowers. Very nice! Once you get started with dies they sure are a lot of fun, aren't they? Bet you've got lots since you started with DRU! I really like the scalloped borders up the sides. Got that little bit of texture. Don't make me go looking at more dies now, Connie. I still have several I haven't used yet and I'm trying to be good. It's not easy!

Great idea to use patterned paper for the mums and love the inked edges!

I love how you used patterned paper behind your flower dies. A new way to use my dies. You're such an inspiration.

Hi Connie, this is such a pretty card. Mums are so pretty anytime of year. In fact, mine are really coming up now and we usually have an early summer bloom then again in the fall.
Your designs are always unique and art inspiring.
Have a lovely week sweet friend. xo

Connie,
This is so nice! I love the flower and the stems and of course the whole vintage feel of it! In the second photo, the flowers almost look like they are made from chocolate, LOL, and how pretty would chocolate versions of your flowers look on a white frosted cake. I'd place the flower under some wax paper and draw over with melted chocolate, stem and all!!! Such inspiration!!! :) xo
