Cat Sympathy

I was in need of another cat sympathy card, this time for our niece on my hubby's side of the family.  After my hubby's dad died our niece offered to take in his cat, and she had him for 7 more years, he was 10 when she took him in.

I hadn't made a shaped card in some time so I decided to make a circle card this time. I laid the die just above the fold line of my card so it would have a hinge to open.

I inked the background, cut the cat out of paper that looked like the multi coloring this cat had and added a die cut tree and leaves, and some butterfly stickers.

  • Impression Obsession - Cat set die and Bare Tree die
  • memory box - Grove leaves die
  • Distress inks for background - Mowed Lawn and Tumbled glass
  • Butterfly stickers

We actually have temps in the 80's this weekend. We are getting out and driving north where there isn't a chance of rain. Hope you all have some fun ideas for your weekend.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Ornaments

I started off the first card using some little stamps I was given by a fellow cardmaker in my group. I had bought these acrylic shapes that you are supposed to put an image behind for an ornament but I keep the shapes to make my own ornaments and fussy cut out. I went around the edge of the ornament and the cardstock and card base with a silver pen to outline everything.

  • Flora & Fauna- Mini Aviary stamps, colored w/markers and spectrum sparkle pen red barn for the berries
  • Pilot Silver pen and Faber Castel pitt artist pen silver to outline everything
  • My mind's eye - O' Christmas tree paper
  • Clear scraps - Ornament acrylic shapes to trace ornament shape
The next two used the same stamp, just colored a little differently.

  • Impression Obsession - Leaf Ornament stamp, colored w/markers
  • Bobunny - Father Christmas paper
  • Tim Holtz - Crochet die
  • Hobby Lobby - Country tags 3d chipboard sentiments
  • Sequins

  • Impression Obsession - Leaf Ornament stamp, colored w/markers
    • Bobunny - Father Christmas paper
    • Spellbinders - Circle Delight die

We had bad flooding last night, it has been a rough time of it, I was awaken by my hubby early that it was rushing into our garage, and he needed help to start getting things up inside the house incase it got that bad.  I stopped to pray and asked God is he would calm the rain, and then started working on getting everything up that I could.  It wasn't too long after that the rain slowed down and then about a half hour to an hour we could see the water going down.  We have a lot of work in our garage, since we don't have a basement everything is stored in there and it is packed, so we have been throwing quite a bit away, and still have a lot to go through.  I am just thankful no water came in the house. They said this will go down in the books as being our most major ran storm, luckily we only got 6 inches in such a short time, there were others to the north of us that got up to 11 inches. We have more rain in the forecast tonight into tomorrow morning, praying none of that will be as heavy, and last as long.

    Deepest Sympathy

Our friend recently lost his Mother and I had remembered this image we had made in one of our zoom meetings where we used different dye inks on a solid image stamp and then stamped onto glossy paper.  I cut it out with my stitched die and added the sentiment and thought it was perfect for a sympathy card.

    • Penny Black - Effulgent stamp
    • Distress inks - Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade and brushed Corduroy
    • PPD - Wavy Stitch Rectangle die
    • Hero Arts - Everyday Sayings

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today, for those of you in the U.S. Hope you stay cool and safe with this heat.

    35th Anniversary

My Sister and her hubby are celebrating their 35th Anniversary in a couple days, she has received the card early so I can share it now.  I cut out 5 of these flowers so I would have an odd number that we are told is more pleasing to the eye, but I just couldn't get it to look right, and using just 3 looked a bit lopsided so I went with adding 3 small flowers and hoped that even number would work.  I first cut the wreath out. Cut the vellum sentiment with a circle die, then added the flowers with stickles for the centers of the little flowers and pen dots for the big flowers with inking in the center of the flowers too.

The background is one I had made on my gelli plate and was waiting for just the right card to use it and I thought it worked perfect for this one.  The card is an A6 size card.

    • Spellbinders - Sunflower set 2 die, inked the centers and added pen dots
    • Hot off the press - Wreath die
    • EK Success - flower punch with stickle centers
    • Gelli plate background used inks and embossing folders
    • JoAnn - 60 Quotes and Sentiments vellum sheets

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today and I hope all in the states who are under this extreme heat stay safe.

    Christmas in July

I was in the mood for coloring so I broke out this book for colorist images for my Christmas cards for this month. They make bigger cards, this is an A6 size, 4 1/2 x 6 1/4 inches. I colored these with markers.

    • Hot off the press - Christmas ornaments for colorist, colored w/markers
    • Anna Griffin - Christmas cardstock
    • Paper Studio - Country tags 3D chipboard sentiment
Two cards so far this month, I need to stop working on my Junk Journal and get more Christmas cards done, these months just seem to fly by.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today!

    Top Billing

I had no idea what to do for the masculine card I needed for an upcoming birthday, I decided to look through my old Graphic 45 papers and see if I could come up with something and I did.  I used scraps I had from the pack to make up the background and then used images and cut out the tickets from the paper pack for my sentiments.

    • Graphic 45 - Curtain call paper pack
    • Ranger - black enamel dots
I love when you can go to a paper pack and get everything you need for a card.

We hit 100 degrees yesterday, and that is without the heat index.  So thankful for air conditioning. We have a little break today and some much needed rain, my garden is going to love this! Next week in the 90's all week, it seems like this is the new normal now.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today,

    Tag

A tag is what started off this card, I had no idea what to do for my nephews wife's birthday and when that happens I just start looking through my stuff and I came across this tag set that goes with a paper pack, I picked out a tag I liked, now what to do with it, I decided to cut the papers for my background to kind of mimic the style of the tag. All I had to add to the tag was the brad, 3 pearl flowers and the sentiment.  To the background I added the crochet piece and the gold border stickers between the two papers.

    • K&co. - Classic K Bailey tag and 12x12 paper pack
    • Tim Holtz - Crochet die and Small talk sentiment
    • BasicGrey - Brad
    • Hot off the press - 63 Thin line border stickers
    • Jolees Boutique - Miniflower pearl gems

Hope you all are enjoying your week, thanks so much for taking out the time to stop by,

    More cards

Yes I made quite a few cards for my daughter to look through, LOL!  Still more that she passed up on so now I have a big stash of cards :)

They are all from the Make Special cards magazine, adding in some die cuts and punches here and there and the last card using some papers from Basic Grey and some Mulberry paper.

As I write up this post my daughter is packing up and getting ready for us to take her to the airport, it's so hard to have her live so far away, let's me realize how my mom felt when my hubby joined the Air Force and off we went. We have to let them fly away don't we.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today,

    Hooray

Sharing more cards I made for my daughter to pick from, these are the ones she passed up on, we had a good laugh over this first one because when I was making it I had to really read what I had cut from my Silhouette machine, but it didn't take me very long, my daughter said what is this supposed to say after studying it for awhile, she said well I don't think I will take this one just because I am nervous the person would have a hard time figuring it out.  I may go in and figure out something to stamp and glue over it :)

This next one the fence and flowers were cut from the silhouette also. The two circles were in my stash of goodies so I just stamped the sentiment and then decided to stamp some grass at the base of the fence to ground it.

This last one I am not sure but I think the bird is from Heartfelt creations that I had cut from patterned paper. I added his eye and that helped, the branch was one cut on my Silhouette machine too.

Well that's it from my scraps of goodies that I made, next time I will share more that I made from the magazine goodies.  We had planned on going on a hike somewhere today but this morning we are getting some much needed rain, so glad I don't have to water the garden :)  So we shall see if the park is something we do after all.  Hope you have fun weekend plans whatever they may be, I know I am starting to go through creating withdrawl :)

Thanks so much for stopping by,

    Picked cards

My daughter has already gone through the cards I made and so I thought I would share the ones that she picked.  She had already picked most of what I have shared already, but this set is goodies that came free with the cardmaking magazine and I just added a few touches to them.  Since we are busy, I won't give any details about the cards just pictures.

This last one was one more from the scraps pile I hadn't shared yet.

    Warm wishes

A lady at church went in for emergency surgery just before her birthday and ended up having sepsis after, she was in really bad shape, so I combined her birthday card with a get well card.

Trying to come up with something to do for her I remembered these stickers that I had come across looking for something else and they are very dimensional so I thought they would go perfect with the Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge which is layers.  I cut out bases for the two stickers to even add another layer and then cut the background from some old patterned papers I had that look like homemade paper.

    • Sunny Studio - Frilly Frames eyelet lace die
    • PPD - Stitched Postage Stamp Rectangle die
    • K&co. Brenda Walton dimensional stickers
    • Hero Arts - All Occasion messages stamp
    • Pizzazz aplenty - 3mm chocolate pearls

Hope you all had a good 4th, there were so many people setting off those huge fireworks all around us, I couldn't sleep, very tired this morning. Not to mention that I could hear the remains of the fireworks landing on our house so all I could think is our new roof is going to catch fire.  The 4th use to be a nice holiday but with all the neighbors setting them off now it is just a very anxious time for me, so sad.

Well that's over for another year and I have my daughter coming in today from Connecticut, we haven't seen her for 3 years, next post will be some more of the cards I finished for her to pick from for her to use.

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by,

    Connie

    Happy 16th

My great nephew is turning 16, I always do cards with some kind of vehicle for the boys when they turn 16. I stamped and embossed in black on white cardstock, used my sponge daubers to add ink to he tires and truck, stamped the tire marks and added a bit of brown ink to that area and then tore the piece, adding two different patterned papers.

    • Our Daily Bread designs - Special boy stamp set, colored with ink sponging
    • BasicGrey - Periphery paper

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by, I know everyone is busy this weekend,

    Christmas in July

Might as well start the month off with Christmas, LOL! I had done it for a challenge in my stamp group for June but forgot to post but it will work for July too, so I am starting it off today.

I used a stencil for the greenery inside the jar, the jar is a stamp that I colored onto vellum and fussy cut, colored the back side with marker, note to self check to make sure you put enough water on the back before applying the adhesive.

    •  The Greetery - Budding Beauties Winter stamp and Crimped Frame die
    • Stampendous - Bouquet for you (for the mason jar stamp)
    • Vellum
    • Tim Holtz - Vintage Shabby paper
    • Martha Stewart - Tag
    • Gem

    Sharing todays' post with :
Simon Says Challenge which is anything goes
