Autumn Bird

I broke out my coloring calendar images again for my next birthday card.  Had to color the bird with Autumn colors for a Fall birthday card. I used the little leaf stamp in the sentiment stamp set to stamp around the image too.

  • Color for Calm - 2108 calendar image, colored w/markers and fussy cut
  • Hero Arts - All Occasion messages stamp set

I found another tag that you can write in your thoughts and thought it would be neat for my great nephew who is turning 14. Instead of writing this time I stamped different birthday sentiments.

  • Recollections - Awesome boy papers
  • Many different sentiment stamps

Beautiful day

I know we don't really associate roses with Fall but when you make them out of Fall colors well I guess it works :)

I have used this rose border I think once and it was high time I used it again and thought it paired nicely.

  • Prima Papers
  • Frantic Stamper - Rose Cutout border
  • Elizabeth Craft Designs - Rose die
  • Tim Holtz - Tiny Text Remnant Rubs

New Technique

This was a new technique to me that our stamp group did over skype.

We added some inks to our glass mats and then spritz with water and used a pallet knife to move the inks around to kind of blend them and then we added tissue paper over the inks and let it absorb, then carefully take off and let dry. Once dry we crinkled the tissue paper to give it some lines and then added glue to our cardstock base and laid the crinkled tissue over the glue, you can even add more crinkles as you bunch it up after layering it on top. Let that dry.

Take your anti static pouch to run over the background, then take your embossing ink and lightly run over only the raised areas from your bunching up the tissue paper. Then add your embossing powder and heat, it gives such a neat look to your background.  I liked it so much I made a few and will be using more in other cards :)

Cardstock base was 4 1/4 x 11 inches, scored at 2 1/2, 3 3/4, 6 3/4, 8 1/4. We took a piece of cardstock and embossed it and added our sentiment for the inside at the bottom.

  • Provocraft - Leafy Branch Embossing powder
  • Cardmaking magic - Birthday Verses stamp set
  • Elizabeth Craft designs - Happy Birthday die
  • Crafter's square - Leaf Sticker ($ store)

This card does not stand up on it's own.

Purple birds

Don't you just love how we as creative people can make our birds any color we would like :) I saw many of these type birds on Pinterest and thought they would be cute for my oldest sister who recently had a granddaughter.

You cut circles, I did two different sizes, don't quite fold in half leave a little room to be able to peek at the paper behind, double sided paper is the best for this.  I added a heart punch to their bottom feathers and leaf punches for their wings. Black pen for the legs and eyes. For the beaks I just hand cut a triangle.

  • Spellbinders - Circle dies
  • P13 - Secret Garden paper pack
  • Little heart punch (tail feathers)
  • Martha Stewart - Leaf punch
  • Fiskars - Grass border punch
  • Whimsy stamps - Simple sentiments stamp set

In the Garden

49 and Market has some very delicate laser cut elements in their collections and this one is one of them, I was hand delivering this one to my girlfriend so it worked out ok to pop it up with foam dots and not worry about the mail crushing it.

  • 49 and Market - Krafty Garden 6x8 paper pack, Krafty Garden Mini Laser Cut elements (flowers and butterfly)
  • Stickles - Shabby Shutters on Flower centers

I think the close up shows more of how delicate the stems are.

Beautiful Day

Last month I had gone to JoAnns store to see if they had anything new in stock and they were having a sale on card making things.  I saw this set of ephemera and thought it was so pretty so I picked it up, Wellll obviously I thought it was a nice pack before because when I came home and went to put it away I already had the set. So the next on my list to make a card for was my friend here in town so I decided I needed to make something with the set and this is the card I came up with.

  • American Crafts - Art Journaling Ephemera (Vellum flower and Vellum script)
  • P13 - Secret Garden Paper (behind flower)
  • Ribbon from Advent Calendar
  • Queen & Co. - Twinkle Goose bumps
  • Tim Holtz - Metallic sentiment sticker
As you may have noticed one of the Gems in the corner that was supposed to hide the glue I used to hold on the vellum fell off, luckily I did notice while putting it into the envelope for her and so it was on when giving it to her, I just didn't take new pictures.

I have been on vacation since September 23rd and we were quite busy driving and exploring, when we would make it back to the hotel I was so exhausted I couldn't see straight, I was able I think 2 times to get on and try and catch up on everyone's blogs, I am almost caught up, I think only a couple days behind now :)  If I get the time maybe I will share some pics of our time out in Montana and places between here and there :)

Sharing another card with 49 and market goodies.

Birthday Bouquet

I am pretty impressed with most of the stickers you can buy at Dollar Tree store, they are so pretty and for the price it can't be beat, yes I now have a full basket of their stickers, rub ons and such, I need to stay away so I don't buy more, LOL! Thought it was time to get some used. I smooshed some blue ink on my mat and made my background behind the flowers that way and then cut a border and did a little inking around the edges.

  • Crafter's Square - Pop up stickers onto a smooshed ink background
  • Raspberry Road Designs - Love lives here paper
  • Martha Stewart - Border punch

I have only taken one picture of my wildflowers that I have been bringing into the house from my garden this year, I have enjoyed bringing flowers into the house so I can enjoy them inside too.

This was from my very first picking :)

Hope you have a great week, thanks for stopping by,

Connie

Masculine Birthday

I love having a stamp positioner like the Misti, you can ink up part of the stamp and then stamp it on your paper and then ink up the rest and stamp again and you don't have to worry about it being lined up, it looks good all in one color but I like the option of using multiple inks, I stamped directly on the pattern paper.

  • Inkadinkado - Utopiary stamp
  • WeRmemory keepers - For The Record Paper
  • Martha Stewart - Border punch
  • Hero Arts - Birthday messages sentiment stamp
  • Spellbinders -  Grommet tags die (with inking in the center before removing die)
  • Brads

Live your best

I hadn't used these dies that cut into the corner of the paper in so long I thought it was high time :) When I am having a hard time thinking of an idea of what to make someone for their birthday card, instead of going for a sketch I have been going through my goodies and finding something I haven't used in awhile and the card usually comes together after that.

  • Wendy Vecchi - Bravo stamp and die set, colored w/markers
  • Memory Box - Distressed Baptisia Collage die
  • Carta Bella - Metropolitan Girl paper

Christmas houses

In my stamp group the challenge is to use Houses on our cards.  When I was looking through my books of watercolor images for a different card I came across this one of a Church, now our churches are God's house, am I not right, so I tore it out and have had it on my desk to remember to use it, I colored with Aqua markers. Adding a bit of snow to make it more Christmas and stamped in the bulletin board Joy and a heart.

  • Spectrum Noir - Serene Scenes Watercolor paper, colored w/ Aqua markers
  • Simon says stamps - Tiny words Christmas (in bulletin board)
  • Flower soft - White (snow)

  • Taylored Expressions - Neighborhood border and Central Park dies
  • Gemini - Torn Edge Circles die
  • Stickles - Crystal (snow)
  • StarForm - Merry Christmas sticker
Now looking at this next one on the computer I am thinking I may need to add a little more to this to make it look like a Christmas scene. Sponged the background, colored the rest with inks.

  • Hero Arts - Wood Frame die
  • House and tree dies were a gift from a blog win, no name on them, colored w/inks, background sponged on inks
  • Simon Says stamps - Tiny words Christmas sentiment stamp

Last One

Last month a lady in our group had a birthday and this is the card I made for her, I hadn't gotten around to posting yet, but just had to post today because I found out this morning that she has passed away suddenly.  She was so funny, caring and sweet, she will be very much missed in our group, we are all just in shock and can't imagine the shock it was to her family. We never know when it will be our time to leave.

I had made this card HERE earlier and had stamped and cut all the flowers out thinking I was going to use them all on the card but ended up leaving these off, they had been on my desk for a couple days when I had to make her card and decided to use them on hers.

  • Spellbinders - Moon flower stamp & dies
  • Special Birthday sentiment stamp from magazine
  • Spellbinders - Decorative Labels eight die
  • Martha Stewart - Pearls

I really need to work on blending my ink colors with those pinks and red Spectrum markers.

We always think about having time to say goodbye, but that doesn't always happen.   I want to thank all of you who take time to come to my blog and the friendships I have made along the way, it means so much to me, hugs to you all!

Congrats times two

My daughter has had a very busy spring and summer.  She graduated from Yale University with her PhD in Theology and has gotten married.

She didn't attend her graduation in person but opted to have it sent to her in the mail.  Since we were not able to attend her graduation I asked if she would take a picture of her and the diploma once she received it.

Here is the card I made for her.  The colors for her area are blue and white, and I had just bought this ephemera pack with the image of this stack of books so I thought that was fitting.

  • Bobunny - Sentiment stamps, white embossing powder
  • Paper Studio - Ephemera pack (books)
  • Taylored Expressions - Confetti die
  • White Gel pen to add a frame around the card

Here she is holding her diploma, she was really shocked because she said her undergraduate diplomas were a lot more impressive then this one.

I don't think I have mentioned it on my blog before or not but she had to divorce her first husband, for her privacy I will not go into the reasons but she has found love again and we are happy for her. He has 3 kids and wants to stay near his kids so she will have less job opportunities than she would have but she picked being with him, and we are so glad she has found happiness once again. Since they both have been married before they didn't want a big to do.

  • Hot off the press - Mystic Garden Papers, stamps, foiled Fancies and Card base
This was a kit that I bought awhile back and although I have used the papers, stamps and foiled images before I have never tried them with this pre fold card base.
