The next challenge was to use something we have recycled. Like I told the girls in the group, I have quite the collection of tissue boxes I have saved just because they are so pretty, this is my favorite. I cute it out with a stitched die and added a flower that I sponged lightly with ink and cut the sentiment die 3 times each so that it would have some depth and added pearls.

Challenges

My cardmaking group had some challenges for January 1st to start off the New Year, there was going to be a new challenge posted every two hours and so many in the group were saying they either couldn't do them on that day or they couldn't get them all done in a day so they changed it to having until the end of January 2nd.  I managed to get them all done in the 2 days but let's just say I slept good each night, it really tired me out, but I did get caught up on quite a few cards and that is always a good thing :)

First challenge was to use any items that you had left over on your desk.  It just so happens I have a basket I keep on my desk that I throw any items that I have used on a card or things that didn't end up on cards, just in case I can use it on another project, well all I can say is it is quite full, so I ended up making two cards.

You may have noticed this first card I had kept the leftovers from making the retirement card.  I had this piece of a crackle background I had made so I put that behind.  The flowers were all cut from a piece of watercolor paper I had in the basket. A friend from church gifted me a jar full of quotes and so I used one of them on this card.

Vintage photo stickles, flower centers

The next card, I had cut a little opening out of this die I had cut and after doing it I wasn't so sure, I think this piece has been in this basket for over a year and I finally used it!! first I had planned to put a sentiment in the little opening but when I found this sentiment tag I had made I thought it would work on this card and it would be another thing to get out of my stash.  So I grabbed some butterfly stamps and stamped them on another piece of paper from the basket and cut them out and added them to the card,

It felt good to make cards using so many items from the basket but the sad thing is I can't even tell I had taken anything out.  Wondering if I should through it all in my recycle bin and start off new this year with a clean basket.  We will see if that happens.

The next challenge was to use a heart on a card.  I reached for my coloring calendar and sure enough I had a heart in there so I colored it up in cream and tried to do an Ombre effect with pinks and reds.

Wonderful Winter wishes

The sun is out today!!! After a few days of rain and then just clouds it is so good to see the sun out again and shining bright, that is what I was sending with this card :) Now who couldn't use that.
I am working again with my daily coloring calendar images, this little guy all dressed in his sweater and scarf just brought a smile to my face.  I colored him with markers.

Cubs

On Black Friday I broke down and bought the Gina K wreath builder set. I had made my own template but noticed I didn't have it quite squared perfectly, although I think all the cards I made with mine turned out fine I also liked the stamps in the set.

My first card using the set went to my Pastor. He loves the cubs baseball team. The sentiment and the heart are from the set I bought, I just added the ball from another stamp set.

I stamped the blue circle around the cubs tag, added a die cut C and then wrote in the rest.  Stamped some borders and I was done.

Gina K designs - Wreath builder bundle set
Newton's nook designs - Fetching friendship for the baseball stamp
Stamps of life Minis 4 circles, blue circle
Diecut - "C" wrote in the ubs
Crafters companion - pretty borders stamps

I wonder how many more guys cards I can make with this wreath builder :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today,

Happy New Year

Wishing you all the most creative and fun New year!!

My hubby's niece does not like winter, if she could live somewhere warm all her life she would.  So I always try to make her a bright summery card for her birthday since it is at the end of December. The sentiment stamp was free with an order I made, I will be sharing that card tomorrow.
