Chewable Asprin

The Lady who heads up our Ladies Bible study group missed last Wednsday's meeting and also Church on Sunday because of a bad cold, so on Monday I sent this card out to her.  Of course yesterday I started getting a scratchy throat and by this morning it hurt so bad I had to use some spray to numb my throat it hurt so bad, I am really bummed since this weekend is the shower for my Daughter at her future in laws and I am going up to the Chicago area with her to meet her soon to be in laws, I really didn't need to be sick for this, especially since it is a 4 hour drive for me.  Well enough about my sickness, lets get on to the card.

This is a quick coloring image from Stampablilities called Chewable Asprin.  I colored it with pencils and cut it out with spellbinder die.  The sentiment from Hero Arts All Occasion Messages was cut out with Marvy punch. Glitter flowers from Hobby Lobby was added underneath.  K&co. paper.

In the background you can see the bottom of the cardbox that I am making for my daughters wedding, hoping to have it done to take it this weekend, I am pretty excited about it, turning out pretty good, I will share it soon :)

We have had a few more snowflakes this morning but very light and nothing is sticking, YEA!!!  This weekend is suppose to get in the 60's, I can't wait!!

Sympathy

My Mother in law's gentlemen friend of 12 years died last Thursday, so I made this card for her.  They did alot for each other and I can only imagine the hole this is going to leave in her life.  Of course she isn't the type to show much emotion so it is hard to tell how she is really doing but I am sure she will miss him very much.

My MIL loves bright colors and so I went a little brighter than I normally do on a sympathy card, found these Cloudnine Design stamps at Jo-Anns and they have such pretty flowers in the set, I decided to just add a hint of color with pencils just to give it a soft look.  This is more of the DCWV Linen closet paper pack.  The bottom border was on one of the papers so I just cut it off at the scallop they had and added it to this paper that has a stitched quilted look to it.  Added liquid pearls to the dots along the scallop.  Spellbinders were used for the image and the sentiment.  Kaisercraft sentiment stamp.

We ended up with about 4 inches of snow on Saturday, just crazy and last night I heard them say something about more accumulitive snow on Tuesday night into Wednsday, this is just weird weather this year.  At least we got into the 40's yesterday so most of the snow is gone, just a bit in those shady spots that don't see the sun.  Our grass is getting long too but if it doesn't quite snowing I don't know when we will get to it.

Hope you all have a Great start to your week,

Banner Birthday

I have been wanting to make a banner card ever since I saw popping up on others blogs, but didn't know if I wanted to invest in stamps and die cuts, then I was looking through my cricut cartridge the other day and in my Give a Hoot cartridge they had banners and triangles, and I thought nows the time to make one! This will be for my great niece who will be turning 6 next month, yep I am caught up with my birthday cards!!!

The letters are from my Don Juan cartridge, and I added a fiskar border punch to dress them up a bit, looking at it now I wish I would have did a little shading on the triangles.  I liked the way that Beate brought her banner together on her March 19th post so I did it the same way, I used all 6 stands of floss and also tied the floss through the buttons.  The buttons were originally clear so I colored them with my prismacolor markers.

The paper is K&co. and the sentiment stamp is from Stampcraft, and the brackets are from HOTP.  Spellbinder die to cut the sentiment out.

I woke up to snow this morning, it is so depressing after having had the doors and windows open just 2 days ago.  I heard we may get more tomorrow night, oh how I would love to have spring back again, looks like next wed. or thurs. we should be back in the 50's.

Hope your having a good day whatever your weather,

Mini Thank you's

These Thank you cards measure 3 1/2 " long and 2 1/4 " high. In the first picture I took I had the envelopes I made from K&co. paper in front of them, I used Kreate-a-lope to make the envelopes. I have been using all their templates ever since I started making cards.

With my Birthday gift card from my daughter I bought the Floral petals punch from McGill to make these roses, these were my first attempt, and I still need practice, I am going to do a you tube search and see if I can get some hints on how to make the centers look better, in these I added flower soft but I don't really like the look of that.

On the card above I used K&co. paper, a fiskar border punch and for the flower I used DCWV paper. The sentiment is a Basic Grey Rubon.  This was my first flower and after I had it together realized I forgot a whole layer, you can tell on my second card it is a little fuller.
I ran out of the paper I was using so the center is out of some scrap cardstock and flower soft. A different Fiskar punch was used for this one, I like the embossed/punched combo of these punches. Basic Grey paper and Rubon.
I have been having problems with my glue dots not holding things onto my cards lately, I don't know if they are too heavy or if it is possible for them to go bad and lose their stickiness, I am using Glue Dots brand, has anyone else had this problem?
Well today is our last warm day, for the next week we will be back in the 40's for our high's, it is so sad but I am thankful for the beautiful warm days we have had to enjoy!

Get well soon

A lady from our Ladies bible study group fell while ice skating and broke her elbow so we wanted to send her a card.  I just loved this stamp from Great impressions, I colored it with prismacolors colored pencils. The background (sky) was colored with Copic marker. I finally bought the lacey circles from spellbinders, used that to frame the image.

I just had to use my Fiskar border punch with it :)  All Occasion Hero Arts stamp was used for the sentiment, layered with spellbinder dies.  My daughter bought me the Linen closet paper pack from DCWV for Christmas, I had never seen it before that and I just love those papers.

It made it to 79 degrees yesterday and they are saying in the 80's for today, it is so nice to open up the house and get it aired out.  Hope your having nice warm weather wherever you are!  We will be needing to mow the lawn soon!

Watercolor Sympathy

Unity Stamp Co. Insightful Medows was used for the image, I used Martha Stewarts art and craft markers directly on the stamp and then misted with water to get that watercolor effect. Tore the image and used Old Paper distress ink around the edges.

Paper is GCD studio paper pack from  Big Lots.  Kaisercraft sentiment stamp, cut out with spellbinders die, sorry forgot the maker of the brads.

I hope your all enjoying a nice sunny warm day!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

No card for today, we were gone all weekend to Michigan for Amanda's shower for our side of the family. It was GREAT seeing everyone and it was a quick trip.  Spent my Birthday yesterday on the road, which probably wouldn't have been all that bad except I hurt my back just before we left for Michigan so all the nice bumps and getting in and out of the car and walking the dog around each stop wasn't the best.  I am in need of some cards right now so I am hoping to get the chance to get to my craft room but will see.

Your Wedding Shower

We not only have our daughters wedding coming up but 3 others we know of so far this spring and summer. This is the shower card I did for our friends daughter that I already showed the wedding card, I know I did it backwards but I had an idea for the wedding card before the shower :)

Papers are form Making memories. I cut out a circle and then took my fiskar Cloud scissors and cut out an umbrella shape.  The gems are from Heidi Swapp.  Elastic Silver cord was used for the handle, tied a bow and added it to it.  The shape behind the umbrella is from my cricut Just Because cards cartridge, and I just inked around it and then pierced around the edges.  Sentiment is from Impression Obsession stamps.
My Daughter and future son in law are coming to spend their spring break with us, we have alot of wedding stuff to do, especially need to get all the wedding invites addressed, so it is going to be a busy week around here, but so nice to have them home!
Hope you all have a Fantastic weekend!!

Going to the Chapel

I decided to go ahead and make my daughters other card for her second shower, I am thinking she may like this one more, a little more her style, it will be interesting to see which one she likes more.

This paper pack was given to me and when I was searching for the maker all I found on the back is it said Dollorama. The button, corners, sentiment tag, image tag, borders and papers were all in the packet.

The church image and sentiment are studio g stamps, the little path from the church was done with copic and the little dots for flowers were done with a sharpie. The crochet flower is one I crocheted and I did hand stitching.

The weather forecast for tonight is rain possibly turning to snow, but that it shouldn't stick....Oh I sure hope not, I am so ready for spring already, with no more chances of snow.

Vintage wedding shower

I didn't have anything else to post so I am hoping my daughter doesn't check out my blog, her first wedding shower is coming up and her wedding colors are brown and green, so I started off with Gina K brown cardstock, this stuff is thick!  I used my scorpal to add some scorelines to the bottom.  Daisy D paper is used behind the Melissa Francis Vintage cutouts image. I layered that on more of the same cardstock.

For the top I wanted to go for a layered lace feel, so I used 3 different Martha Stewart edge punches. These strips were ones I had left over from making her wedding invites :)  The sentiment tag is a Fiskar stamp, the green was a little too bright yet so I sponged some brown over it to age it a bit, looks better in person I think. The Rose pin I found at $ store and I added a clear bead to the bottom so she doesn't get poked.  I am very happy with the results of this card, hope she likes it even though I don't think she is much into vintage, I'll have to do some thing a little different for her other shower.

To have and to hold

Our friends daughter is getting married next month and her colors are pink and blue. I used a scallop punch to make the outside scallops.  The flowers were cut out using the cuttlebug die. Branches are Martha Stewart punch.  Sorry can't remember who made the diamond brads.  Sentiment stamp is from Fiskars.  Used chalk ink to color the doily blue.

The flowers are made from recycled color catchers that you use in your laundry when you don't want your colors to bleed onto your other clothes.  I thought the colors were pretty and saved them and they ended up coming in handy to make flowers :)

Butterfly inches

Good Morning, sure hope the sun is shining brightly were you are today.  It is only suppose to get up to 49 today but I am sure enjoying that sunshine!

My card today is from a sketch over at Stamp TV that Gina did.  I used Inkadinkado inchie stamps for mine, mounted on K&co. paper that was cut out with spellbinders nestablities. The ribbon is from the $ store and the Hero Arts sentiment stamp is on a cuttlebug slider die.

My background was done using the Spellbinders impressabilites butterfly embossing, I added the blue chalk ink over it.

Hydrangeas

The image is Miss Elizabeth stickers from the Dollar tree, mounted them on spellbinder dies and added white enamel accents to the scallops, I love this stuff it gives a perfect dot everytime!!

The paper is K&co, and used a HOTP strip to go behind the sentiment, which is a Hero Arts stamp and is cut out with spellbinder, I cut the other end off because I only wanted to use the ribbon on one side.

March is here, YEA!!! sure hope spring is coming soon!
