Special Day

Today is my Sisters birthday and I am hoping that she doesn't check my blog before she gets her mail, I want her to see her card in person first.

I subscribe to a couple English magazines and they had what they called Zig Zag card but all the dimensions were in Metric so I was trying to figure out what size I should make it and decided to google Zig Zag cards and oh my there are all kinds out there, well I found this one that used a 5 1/2 by 12 inch size paper and you scored at 2" 4" 8' and 10 inches.  On the 5 1/2 inch side you measure down 3 inches draw a line from the 4' score line to that 3 inch score line and that gives you your angle, do the same thing on the other side.  The you mountain and valley fold both sides until you get your shape.  The reason I am telling you all this and not giving you the link is because I don't have it, I thought I saved the link but I guess I didn't and when I tried googling again, no such luck finding it.

I can give you the link to the video I found on you tube, it is not the same card but I did like her idea of using a punch on the borders so I used that idea: Zig Zag tutorial

Here is the card, before sending this to her I added a white piece of cardstock inside with my birthday message.

Spellbinders -- Picot edge circles, Anemone Flower topper, and Foliage dies
Martha Stewart -- Swirling lace and Butterfly punches
Stampendous-- Birthday assortment sentiment stamp
Queen & co. -- Gems (flower centers and right bottom)
Recollections-- Pearl swirls
Distress ink-- Broken china

I wanted you to see what it looked like closed so I had to use a paper clip to keep it closed.

Wishing my Sister a very Happy day and God's blessings for a wonderful year ahead!!

Hope today is a start to a very good weekend for all of you too,
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,
Connie

Spellbinders dies:
Labels 25
Bitty Blossoms

Papertrey ink --Hodge podge papers

We just got blasted with more rain this morning, the ditch flooded again but it didn't get up into our yard, so thankful.  I feel for all those people that have been effected by all the flooding and fires here lately, such a stressful time, praying for peace and strength to get through it all.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Hope your enjoying a nice week,
Connie

Sprinkler Girl

My great niece turns 4 tomorrow and this is the card that I sent to her.

I paper pieced her swimsuit and decided to cut it out on an angle before seeing if it would fit on the card, no it did not but I realized if I cut off the extra lacey loops that it would fit, so I have changed the die up just a bit.

My Favorite things - image and sentiment (sentiment is stamped on the right side bottom of the image on the designer paper) colored with copic and spectrum noir markers
Spellbinders: Classic Square, Lacey Squares and Lg. Classic inverted scalloped circles ( I think that last day works great for a sun)
October Afternoon - Paper
Fiskars - cloud punch
K&co. - flower gem in her hair

I had a very good time at my first Demo for Spellbinders yesterday.  We had some crazy down pours while I was there and I felt so bad for everyone that came in soaking wet, but glad there were those that wanted to stop and watch the Demo and make a card.  I will be at Hobby Lobby on Saturday the 29th in Fairview Hgts. Illinois to do a demo for them also, if anyone lives nearby and would like to come check it out would love to have you :-)  You can check out Spellbindersontheroad.com for any demo's that may be in your area.

It looks like we are ending out our Sunday with some sunshine, that is always  nice to see, specially after a day of rain yesterday and this morning.  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,
Connie

Spiral Blossom

One more I did for my demo on Saturday, I managed to get 5 Spellbinder dies on one card:)

Spellbinder dies:

A2 Matting basics A
Floral Ovals
Foliage
Back to Basics Tags
Spiral Blossom One

Now this card would have to be hand delivered, or in a very padded envelope, that flower is a half an inch tall, but it sure makes a statement on the card and I just Love the Floral Ovals dies, I think they are one of my favorite, that can make any card look classy, even though I used some whimsical papers :)

I have a lot to do today and it is suppose to be a warm one so I think I had better get moving, hope you all are having a good week so far.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,
Connie

Cork

I have another card that I will be showing at my Demo, this is showing how you can cut the dies with Cork, and as you can see stamping on the cork works too :)

Spellbinders Dies:
Anemone Flower topper (w/button center)
Foliage
Labels Eight (Cork)

We had terrible flooding again last night and my husband had just finally washed the dirt out of our driveway from the last time because the rain we had been getting wasn't hard enough to wash it away, our shed flooded again too, at least this time the city came out and tried to unclog the drains but I think it was already going down by the time they got here.
But today we are starting off with cooler temps and beautiful sunshine, I am off to pick my strawberries, yes I am still getting strawberries :)

Hope your day is shiny and bright,
Thanks so much for stopping by,
Connie

Exciting News

Back in April I was asked by Spellbinders if I would like to demo their dies in Michaels and Hobby Lobby stores.  I was so very excited but then nervous at the same time, hoping I could do a good job, you see I haven't worked outside the home other than my volunteering I did while my daughter went through school and the work I do at my church, but I do love the product, so that is half of it right there, right :-)  Then with having to go back to Michigan for my Father in laws heart attack and then in May my mother in law passing it has been a slow road to get started but the time is fast approaching.  I have my first Demo at the Michaels store in Shiloh, Illinois on June 22nd.

I thought I would share some cards I am making to have for examples on the table.

This card uses the following Spellbinder dies:
Standard Circle
Labels Twenty two
Back to basics Tags

The stamps are from Michaels also, I colored the images with copic makers and cut the rope out, so I was able to use 3 stamps on one card as well as 3 dies.

This will be the card that I will let them make, so they can try them out for themselves, I tried to keep it simple and wanted to show off how you can sponge the ink around the sides to give it more depth and that it looks like you have more layers then you do.

Spellbinders dies:
A2 matting basics A
Labels Eighteen

Sorry so long in between postings but Vacation Bible School this week was very tiring and with still having to get housework done ect.  I was too tired to work on cards.

Hope your enjoying a great weekend, we are suppose to get showers tomorrow, so Fathers day will be a bit of a wash out, so we did our grilling out today!

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Connie

Utopiary

A little late posting, yesterday I had a couple of hours between church services and then heading back to church in the afternoon to go help set up for our Vacation Bible School.  This week I am helping out with the crafts for VBS, so I had to come home and get some work done and then went to my room to get a card done for my brothers birthday.

Inkadinkado-- Utopiary stamp set
Stampendous-- Birthday Assortment sentiment stamp
Spellbinders -- Classic Square, A2 matting basics A and Grommet tags dies
October Afternoon -- 5 & dime paper
Fiskar Upper Crust punch

You probably can't see it in this picture but the cardstock color that I used for the border punch is the same color in the dots along the stripes, in person it helps bring out that color more.

Hope your having a wonderful week,
Thanks so much for stopping by and I so appreciate you taking the time out to comment,
Connie

Fathers Day

I had a hard time making this Father's day card for my Father in law, knowing that I wouldn't be making one for my Dad this year.  I miss my Dad so much.

Hot off the Press -- Instant card art for the sentiment tag and the tag I added Dad too.
K&co. -- Paper background
Graphic 45 -- Once upon time paper (green dotted paper)
Memory Box-- Parker Upper case alphabet die set (dad)
Spellbinders-- Labels Twenty-two and Classic Rectangles Lg dies
Michaels-- Screw Brads
Burlap

I am sore all over we spent the morning changing around our flowers and planting new ones, we had to tear out two bushes that bag worms ruined.  My strawberries are coming in quicker than I can deal with them and I have my first flowers on my green pepper plants!!  I love to watch things grow.

I also have a new grand furbaby, my daughter and son in law adopted a kitten the other day, when I get a good picture I will have to post it, wish they were closer, but it sounds like if they are able to come and visit us in August they will be bringing her along :)

Wishing you a wonderful and relaxing weekend,
Thanks so much for stopping by,

Birthday Murphy

I love how North Coast Creations named this little guy, Murphy.  I know you are probably thinking wow look at all those patterns and colors, that is not my normal style, but this is going to a 4 year old boy and I thought it would be good for it to be exciting and bold :)

Jacqueline was giving away this pretty stamp a while back and I was lucky enough to win it, I just love birds and flowers so this was perfect :)  She does such Beautiful works with her cards and in the package she sent I was also the lucky receiver of one of her Lovely creations.  Go check out her blog here and get some great inspiration.  Thanks again Jacqueline for the sweet stamp.

BasicGrey-- Origins paper
DCWV-- mat stack earth prints paper
Martha Stewart-- Laurel leaf border punch

We had flooding with all those storms that came through the Saint Louis area yesterday, our driveway and front lawn is filled with mulch and debris, our backyard and shed were flooded also, but luckily it didn't get to the house.  We were lucky a lot were hit with such high winds that it tore off roofs and such.  It is so weird how we were in a drought last year and this year we are breaking records for the amount of rain we are getting.

Hope you are all safe and well where you are, and are enjoying a good weekend.
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,
