ODBDSLC168

This is Our Daily Bread Designs Sketch #4.  You can find the sketch and other inspiration Here .  If you play along you can have a chance to win a certificate towards their stamps :)

I needed a card for my Niece's husband and I liked this sentiment to go with this image for a birthday card.  It would be a great one for an encouragement card too!

ODBD-- Keep Climbing stamp for image and sentiment, colored with markers
Spellbinders -- Classic Circle Lg and Labels Four dies
Fiskars -- Upper Crest border punch
Ki, Hampton art -- Adhesive metal accents
Basic Grey-- Basics Kraft paper pad
Cuttlebug -- Forest Branches embossing folder, I inked the folder before embossing

It is still so HOT here, our temperature gauge has been reading in the 100's for the past few days, yesterday we had to get out and do some errands and we did them quickly and just came back home, can't take the humidity with the heat, just too much.  Hope you are staying cool were you are.

Wishing you all a Terrific weekend,
Thanks so much for stopping by, I really appreciate the comments,

Center Step Card

I wanted to do something a little different for my older sisters birthday so I made her a center step card, you can find the instructions on Splitcoaststampers.

Deep Red Cling stamps-- Bird and Roses, colored w/ markers
Spellbinders -- Labels Eight and A2 matting basics A dies
Memory Box-- Valencia Border die
EK Success -- Flower punches
Stickles -- Cinnamon and yellow, flower centers
Elizabeth Craft Designs -- Happy Birthday die
Queen & co. -- Yellow Sunshine Pearls

The memory box die is so delicate and I didn't know how I was going to attach it, I ended up putting a sheet of paper through my Xyron machine, then cut out the die and peeled away the backing paper and that worked great.  I also cut my first ones out with thinner paper and it actually worked better with the thicker paper.

Hope your having a good week,
Thanks so much for taking the time out to visit,

Connie

First Christmas Card

I have been seeing a lot of ladies starting their Christmas cards and I keep thinking I need to do that but I am usually close or behind in my Birthday card making that I don't get around to it, but since I received my copy of Quick Cards in the mail on Friday (British card magazine) I decided to give this a go first.  In every issue of this magazine you get either stamps, papers die cuts free with every issue and this past issue it had Christmas papers and decoupage papers.  If you are interested in these magazines I found them at Barnes and Nobles, I started getting mine in the mail because it was cheaper to do so.

There are 5 layers of images to layer on top of one another so I used EK success 1/16" dimensional adhesives for this project.

Somebunny to Love Decoupage and paper pad set
DCWV-- Cardstock
Spellbinders --- Decorative Labels One
Martha Stewart -- Snowflake punch
Tim Holtz -- Crinkle Ribbon (colored with Tumbled Glass distress ink)
Forever in Time -- Button (colored w/ marker to match the blue)

Here is a side view so you can see the different layers.  I don't know if I will be sending this through the mail or hand delivering yet, so I didn't put any kind of sentiment on it since I don't know who I will be giving it to.  This card is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2".

Hopefully I can make the time to get more cards done and post more frequently, I was shocked to see the last time I posted was last Thursday, how the days just seem to fly by, wonder if it will be any different in the winter.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,
Have a terrific week,

Connie

Country Angel

I found this cute stamp at a Flea Market, I love the look of country and this Angel just said country to me.  This card is a 5x7" card, the one in my post below was a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2" card.  I figured I should let you know when I do anything other than the traditional A2 :)

Stampin up -- Brighter Days image colored w/markers
Rasberry Roads Designs paper -- came as a gift inside my Cardmaking magazine
Spellbinders -- Resplendent Rectangles dies
Martha Stewart -- Seam binding ribbon (that I ruffled), flowers, leaves and tag punches ( I did a little scoring on the top leaves)
Inkadinkado -- Greetings/Salutations stamp set
Enamel Accents -- Black
Gems in corners on white layer
Making memories -- Button on bottom flower

It is turning very HOT again down here, we have had such a mild summer compared to summers past and I was really enjoying it, but now it is back to the HOT temps again.  My poor Hubby is suffering bad with his allergies, even taking his medicine.

Hope your week is going well,
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Psalm 91:1

This card is for our Pastors Birthday... he loves the outdoors and hiking...

Art Impression-- M-3175  Windows to the world series stamp (image) colored w/ markers
Spellbinders-- Classic Sq. Lg and Square Swatches dies
October Afternoon-- Campfire paper
American crafts-- Twine
Dragonfly charm, sorry can't remember where I found this

Our kids have gone back to North Carolina and the house is very quiet.  I thought I would share a picture of their kitten with Peanut.  They were just so cute looking out the door to the birds in the bird feeder out back.  Peanut got along with her very well and loved chasing her around the house, our cats especially Anna didn't want to have anything to do with her.  By the end Jip warmed up to her and could tolerate her as long as she didn't touch her.. LOL.

Hope you had a good weekend and the start to your week is going well too!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and sharing your comments, it is much appreciated!

Son in law

Our Son in law celebrated his birthday with his folks first and then when they came down here we celebrated with them also :)

My Favorite Things -- Image and sentiment stamps  and die
Walnut Distress ink
Recollections -- Garden Harvest paper ( checker paper, for the "tablecloth"

I tried to do what looked like a border that would be on a wall and used black cardstock with DCWV paper layered on top.  I don't know if you can tell but I also did some paper piercing along that border also.

This is our last full day with the kids, they will be going over into St. Louis tomorrow and on Sunday they will be going to the church they attended while going to their college here in Illinois and meeting with friends that are still in that area.

Hope you all enjoy a wonderful weekend,
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Flutterbye wishes

I subscribe to two magazines from England and in each of these magazines you receive either stamps, papers, cd of digital images ect. in every issue and in last months issue they had these Hunkydory papers and diecuts.  If you are interested in them and would like to check them out, I saw them on the Paperwishes website also. Here is the link to the page .  If you click on some of them there is even video's on how they used them.

The papers, diecut and sentiment are all from the pack, all I had to do is, pop up the die cut with dimensional adhesive,  add the gem butterfly and some round gems and I was done, which was perfect because I had to get this out in the mail quickly to make it by my friends birthday.  Oh I also added stickles to the leaves and flower centers and to some of the sparkles along the outside of the flowers.  I used Fruit punch, worn lipstick and shabby shutters stickles.

I am enjoying having the kids in the house, so much laughter.  Their kitten is a little stinker, we have had to move a lot of things around the house, she is quite the climber and likes to get up on the counters, tables and bookcases so she is keeping us hopping telling her no and taking her down from things, and she has so much energy, I forgot how much a little kitten has since our cats are almost 17 years old.   Our cats are tolerating her, but they don't like when she gets too close and they let her know.  Peanut (our dog) thinks that their kitten (Gander) is a play toy for her, and Gander is not too sure about it, but we have caught them rubbing up against each other so they are doing a lot better.  Gander just isn't to sure when Peanut gets excited and barks.

Well off to get a few things done before everyone wakes up.
Thanks so much for stopping by,

Connie

I am pretty excited, we weren't suppose to see our daughter until next week, but her retainer broke and she was able to get an appointment for tomorrow morning here in town, so they will be arriving tonight and will leave for her in laws tomorrow after her appointment.  We have not seen them since my Dad's funeral, so it has been a little over 7 months.... too long.  She is bringing their cat, so we will have 3 cats and a dog in this house, sure to be some fun times :)

Flannel Coasters

I decided to go with flannel fabric for these coasters, thought they would be nice for the upcoming fall season.  The colors she had for her wedding were blue and yellow so these ended up going great with her wedding theme :)

I can't give you a link for the pattern since I got the idea for a pattern in a quilt in a magazine, I believe the squares were 2 7/8 and you laid the two fabrics right sides together, draw a diagonal line from one end to the other and sew a 1/4 inch from the drawn line on both sides and then cut them on the drawn line, open it up and you will have two blocks, takes  4 of them to make one coaster. I am thinking they ended up being a little over 4 inches but can't remember for sure.

Here is a close up of one them.

Hope you enjoyed a relaxing weekend, and the week ahead is a great one!

Crochet Towel Holder

A couple at our church who both have been married before are getting married today and I decided since they have a household set up already I would make them a few things, today I am sharing the towel holder I made and I put one of the towels I bought to go with it in the ring already to show you how it looks.

You can find the pattern I went by HERE .  I will have to say I couldn't get the ring to look correct with the method she suggested so I just made a chain of 20 on the tan one I made that has the towel in it and then did half double crochets tightly around, on the blue one I did 25 chains and then half doubles around to make a little bigger ring incase she prefers that.

Here is a close up of the two of them, this was my first time ever doing cross half doubles so I hope I did them right.

Just got home last night from a quick trip to Michigan to see my sister and her family and bring home my mothers sewing table and quilt rack.  Had a great time visiting, just wish that drive wasn't so long. I forgot to take any pictures.

I have a busy day today and tomorrow so I will share the other half of the present on Monday most likely.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend,
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,
