Forgotten Treasures

I needed a card for my Great nephew who is turning 15, and once again I couldn't think of any stamps that would work so I started going through some of my older supplies and came across this tag book I bought many years ago, and thought these lizzards would be cool, then I remembered an old sticker book I had with sentiments and numbers and thought they would work on the tag and I think they do.

Do any of you recognize the netting behind the tags?  My hubby takes those Babybel cheeses that come in the netting in his lunches to work and I am always throwing the netting away, one time I thought I wonder if I could use that in a card so I took it into my craft room, well I came across it when looking for what to use on his card and thought it might be neat with the lizard, so since the netting is white and I wanted a little darker I added stazon brown ink to the netting on both sides, worked like a charm.... do you have any recycling ideas that you use in your crafting?

I first was going to layer the tags but it would have covered up the big tags lizards face and I didn't want that so I attached them to the base separately.

I am sharing the rest of the Missouri Botanical Gardens.  First up their Harvest display in the center of the garden.

I can't remember the name of the next area we went in but there was a theme to every section and this was the children's section and you had to look closely but there was a little fairy garden  in there and these little fairies all made from wire, this was my favorite of all of them... had to have something crafty to share in these pictures :)

The next two pictures were in the Japanese gardens.

And last one is from the English Garden

We are now having quite crisp mornings, my gauge says 50 this morning... Peanut isn't staying out as long as she use to in the mornings.  Fall is in the air, we are seeing a bit more color too, on our walk yesterday we saw more trees starting to change.

Hope your week has been well so far and that it only gets better from here, thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and say Hi,

Connie

Oh, Connie, I absolutely love the idea of using the Baby Bell netting for the card, and what a brilliant idea to dye it. It's perfect. And I just love the geckos on the card. We have lots of them here running all around in South Florida, and they are funny. Our one grandson when he was very young tried to catch one...and he finally did. What a giggle. But he took care in releasing him. They are actually good for eating the little bugs. And I know your great nephew will love this card. And, wow, I continue to love seeing the beautiful photos you took on your visit to the Missouri Botanical Gardens. What a stunning place! Hugs, sweet friend, and keep warm! We're still in the 70's at night and 80's in the day.

Hi Connie, He will love that card. There is something very heart-warming about knowing that someone loved you enough to put time into making you a special card. There is a little piece of your heart in every card you make. I am so delighted to see that someone else is reusing that netting. I have even saved it from my Thanksgiving turkey. They wash up easily and can add a little needed texture to a project. Your garden photos are lovely . . . what a pretty place to take a walk. Thank you so much for being such a sweet blogging friend . . . have a wonderful weekend.
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

Your forgotten treasures posts are always inspiring. They make me think about certain things I have tucked away in drawers. Hard to find the time to use everything in my stamp room, but I'm trying! You always come up with the most perfect masculine cards, whether young or old. Great job on this one, Connie. I love the netting. I have some dry wall tape tucked away. Hmmmm, not sure if I gave that back to Rich recently, though. I'll try to use it soon if I still have it.
