New Year Challenges

The card making group I belong to decided to have challenges to start off our new year, especially since a lot of people would have Sunday off, and since I was already behind on the early January birthday's this was the perfect thing to help get me jump started and get them done. There were 10 challenges and these are the 3 I managed to get done on Sunday.

First Challenge was to use an image from a calendar that we would just toss.... well I don't toss my calendars, either I make envelopes from them or I use the images from them, and this image from a Debbie Mumm Calendar was the perfect size for my card.  I just added some Hot off the press, tiny words dazzles for the sentiment, some spectrum sparkle pen to her wings and matted it onto some paper,

The next challenge was to use your favorite sports team colors on a card.  I went with University of Michigan colors.  I feel bad because I sent this to my girlfriend who is a Michigan State fan :)

Darcie -Large Daisy embossing folder
Inkadinkado -- Patterned Bugs stamp set
Queen &co. - Yellow sunshine pearls
David Tuttera - Celebrate sentiment

The last challenge was to do a Vintage type card using many supplies.  I went with this Graphic 45 paper.

Graphic 45 -- Steampunk Debutante paper
DCWV -- Rub on stitches
Hero Arts -- Birthday messages
Spellbinders -- Circle Delight
Fiskar -- Brown ribbon
American Crafts -- Jute
Button from flea market

Maybe these challenges will give you some ideas for your own crafting.

Hope you are all well and didn't get too much snow.  We are headed back to below freezing temps tomorrow, not looking forward to that.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and letting me know you did, so good to hear from you!

Connie

i always save my calendars as i just can't toss such beautiful pictures in the garbage. i never use them. i must have 10 saved.

i like your challenges, the first one - adorable. the second, i don't think she will ever make the sports team color connection and it's awesome. your vintage is very vintage and so well done!!

we haven't gotten any snow yet and it's been kinda' warm - i don't know what's coming!!!

Wow! You have been busy, Connie! I love that you have used three techniques and styles - for 3 completely different creations! Loving the blush on the little girl's cheeks, and the pretty yellow design in your butterfly wings. Lastly, your vintage birthday card is great! I love that we are reminded of what lengths we women go to in order to try to look pretty - even though we already are beautiful! LOL Fantastic creations! hugs, de

Hi Connie, I love your cards. Every time I look at your creations, I want to do them myself. I'm hoping one day I can try something. You always have such amazing ideas.

We're all snowy here with more on the way, they're calling for squalls too. We did have a bit of rain which turned some of the back roads into skating rinks.

I don't think my waistline will ever be like the vintage girl's waist even with a corset! LOL!

What a wonderful idea to use calendar pages for cards & envelops. Pretty cards and I had to smile when I saw that vintage girdle! Ouch!

Well done Connie, and why feel bad about sending your friend a card saying "glad we're friends"? Makes sense to me, she may not have even twigged re the colours... 😊 Other two cards are lovely too. great work.
And here it's most definitely not freezing ..very pleasant. 🌞
Thanks for sharing your inspiration,

I love Debbie Mum images! My one calendar is Wally and LuLu, so I definitely save those, but not for card making. Yours made into such a cute card! Gosh, the butterfly card is so pretty, too, with the embossed daisies. A die-hard fan might make the color connection, but she'll just get a giggle. I know she'll love it. And lastly, oh, that vintage paper is fabulous! Glad we don't have to wear those corsets anymore. Whew! Great start on your birthday cards, Connie!

Three good ones here Connie, but if I had to choose a favourite it would be the Debbie Mumm Calendar one
