Today's card went to another blog friend, Shaz from Calligraphy Cards.
Some people I just know what I want to do for them and other's I really have to put my thinking cap on :) Shaz lives in Australia and she shares many pictures of the beauty around where she lives including the lovely beaches. I think that is the one thing I really miss about living in Michigan is the lakes, being by the waters edge is so calming to me.
Well back to the card, I just didn't know what to do for a water theme and so I went with another thing that she shares, and that is her love for God, she shares verses from the bible and she does lovely cards with verses on them. When I think of God's house, the church and that had me thinking of stained glass windows. I love the old churches with the ivy growing up them.
I started with a piece of transparency that I used alcohol inks to get the stained glass effect, and glued the window die cut to it and cut around it. A little inking on the ivy because the green looked a little to bright for me after all.
I inked the embossing folder to give the background a tan color.
Tim Holtz --Bricked embossing folder, inked with Memento Desert sand
Poppystamps -- Gothic stained glass die
Transparency with Alcohol inks : Cranberry, Meadow, Eggplant
Spellbinders -- Ivy die
Martha Stewart -- Butterfly punches
David Tuttera -- Celebrate sentiments
Gems
Wink of stella -- clear glitter on butterflies
Thanks once again for taking the time to stop by today, I so love hearing if you have,
Connie

I agree with you being by the waters edge is so calming.
I love seeing stained glass windows in Churches.
I think Shaz will love this card.
All the best Jan
Connie, this is one beautiful design. Lovely colors in your stained glass, and the textures achieved in your brick are amazing! Wonderful card, my friend!
Wow!! This is so very creative! Love your beautiful stained glass window! Amazing!!
The brick work on this card is especially beautiful, and the butterflies too!! I am about 10 minutes from the ocean and live on a river. Yep, I love the water too, don't think I could ever be too far away from it!!
Your card shows us what it seems a real rose window, it's truly amazing and charming, thank you for being so, so special, darling Connie !
Wishing you a most lovely weekend ahead,
I'm sending blessings of joy to you
XOXO Dany
Looks like a really cool and unique custom stained glass. You barely can make this one with real glass. Plenty of colors in such a creative manner
Oh your alcohol inks look like a beautiful stained glass window. What a magical technique! I adore that window die cut too! WOW!
Gorgeous card Connie. I love the pretty stained glass window die. So elegant. The background is amazing! Cool technique.
Oh, Connie, so beautiful! The thought you put into it made it unique and stunning, and perfect for your dear blog friend. What a beautiful die cut window on your brick embossed card. Love the ivy growing up the wall, and the butterflies flitting around. I would miss living by the water. Naturally, there's plenty of it here by the ocean, plus so many lakes and rivers. I often wish we could go someplace where the dogs wouldn't get so wet. They head straight for the water and then we wind up soaked, too!
This is AWESOME Connie! Your stained glass idea was perfect and what a fabulous job you did on that stained glass window! The ivy growing up the side is perfect too! What a beauty and I'm sure she will LOVE IT ... I know I sure do!
The stained glass is gorgeous, Connie. This is one of my favorite cards of yours yet. Absolutely stunning!
Absolutely stunning!! Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Wow, love your stained glass window set in a very real looking brick wall! Beautifully coloured background too - a stunning card which I'm sure your friend will love!
That is a very pretty card Connie. I have been contemplating making a card myself and the only thing I can come up with is folding it in half and gluing some things on it haha!! I definitely want to try one day. This card took me back in time to grade 4. We did a stained glass window with paper (it didn't look near as nice as this one of course). Thank you for taking me down memory lane.
Have a great weekend!
This card is so beautiful. The stained glass is awesome as is the ivy and the brick work.
Oh how lovely! Your stained window is gorgeous w/the ivy and brick! I love stained glass windows!
