Duck to water

The other day my hubby got this small catalog from United States Mint, I think they got his address from subscribing to Smithsonian magazine, anyway I just went through it and I came across this image, I believe it is on a quarter, maybe even a Michigan one, but I thought it was pretty and would look nice on a masculine card, but I would want it to have some color.  I thought of how people add a touch of color to old black and white photo's and thought I would give it a try on this one, I just didn't know what medium to use to color with, I first tried using distress inks with a finger dauber and it worked somewhat but I just wasn't sure of it so I went over that with my colored pencils and I liked the look it achieved.  I wanted to add a little something to it so I went for my photo corners and then while going through my sentiments I found this sticker that would allow the background to show through.

Sharing more of my fog pictures, it seemed to hang around the water but as you got away from the water it was better. These first two pictures are from Lumberman's Monument, near Oscoda Michigan, we were stationed there at Wurtsmith AFB for a few years.  We just love this overlook they have there.

The rest of the pictures are from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the next day, yes still foggy :) I forgot what city this was but they had a harbor that we walked down to and there were many small islands in the area and it was so cool with the fog hanging over them.

When leaving the parking lot of the harbor we saw these Turkey's across the street, so hubby parked the van we got out to get pictures of them and they just started walking right up to us, usually turkeys we see in the wild don't let us get very close, so this was really neat, we were wondering if he was going to run us off the way he was coming right at us but it let us get some great detail photo's, I didn't have to zoom in on these that is how close they were.

Back to the water

When we arrived at De Tour Village which is the tip of the east side of the U.P. the fog had lifted from the water and the sun was coming out :)

It always amazes me how plants can grow among the rocks.

Next time we will head inland and get some colorful tree pictures!
Thanks so much for stopping by today.

I love your water fowl card, Connie, and the clear "happy birthday" framed sentiment! Your soft colors look amazing. It's beautiful! Thanks for sharing the autumn photos of your pretty landscapes. Our Florida wild turkeys do NOT look so robust, and are quite shy unless in an open field. These are lovely and so big! hugs, de

You and those coloured pencils have worked magic on the duck. It rather looks like a photograph. Fabulous card; great for a male. As for your photos they are lovely. I love misty photos though it is always a good thing when the sun makes an appearance. Great shots of the turkeys. Wow, you did get close didn't you.

Wow Connie, your card is stunning! What a great find that see through sticker was. It is the perfect way to add the sentiment without detracting from that lovely image you colored up so perfectly. I always enjoy looking at your wonderful pictures. Happy November!

ha ha, the turkeys are funny. I'm absolutely in love with this card. You certainly coloured it to perfection. You find the oddest places for images which shows you can think outside the box.

Wow, your card is fantastic and, oh, my gosh, your photos are breathtaking! Those views from the overlook and the turkeys, sigh... We had turkeys in camp in eastern Oregon, but no fanned tails. Those are some big ones! Back to your card... your pencil coloring over ink is absolutely beautiful. Very soft and realistic. You did an amazing job on that, Connie!
