Sharing another lighthouse today that we went to the following day in Michigan. Greg and I both loved that they didn't paint this one that it is the original brick, I was listening to the lady giving a little info before people would go up into the tower, (no I did not climb to the top of this one) and she mentioned why it wasn't painted but I forget now :( I do remember her mentioning that the dunes came to be after the Chicago fire. They needed a lot of timber to rebuild and they cut down many trees in that area for it, once the trees were taken away the dunes formed since there was nothing to keep the sand from moving around.
I tried in the picture to give an idea of how tall this is, just beautiful detail on it too.
Do you see the birds perching up above the window.
Thanks so much for stopping by, I will have a card to share next time :)

Awesome photos ... thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous pictures!
what a beautiful lighthouse!
You really do get around. This lighthouse really is appealing to me. I love lighthouses and enjoy all your photos.
I always love to look at lighthouses....but what to do with all those steps. This one is a lovely one. It looks as if it was a perfect summer's day with blue skies that stretch forever. Lovely photos, Connie.
these pictures are so beautiful connie!! i am a big fan of lighthouses, i like how this series, starts far out and ends with close-ups!! the top of this lighthouse is so beautiful, and has so much detail...i LOVE the brick choice. most light houses are white and i really like the look of this redish brick!! and the blue sky is soon pretty!!
i would not have seen the birds on top, thanks for pointing them out!!
That is a very handsome light house! Interesting history for it too. The only brick lighthouse that is unpainted, that I have seen, is on Martha’s Vineyard. I seem to remember it is simpler than this one though. I love the detail around the windows.
Oh, my, that IS a tall lighthouse! You can tell by the pic with the people at its base. Love the close up that shows the brick. It's a beautiful structure!
What a charming light house! It reminds me of the one in Cape May, N.J. Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Hugs,
Debbie
