We headed for Ludington Michigan after leaving Grand Haven and after getting our hotel we headed to the beach, you can see a bit of cloudy skies but it was still clear to see the Ludington North Breakwater Light. As you can see it is out there a ways so you I had to use my zoom to get what I did.
When we got out to the end of the pier we could see the car ferry The Badger coming in to port. The Badger makes trips from Michigan over to Wisconsin over Lake Michigan. I remember doing the trip as a young kid, the main thing I remembered is I didn't think the ferry was very pretty and I was motion sick the whole way across, my Dad stayed outside with me so that the fresh air would hit me and help me feel a little better. I enjoyed it so much more on dry land this time :)
We are standing just on the other side of the rocks that you see there, so that is how close it comes to you, and then they blow the horn because everyone comes down to watch it come in, that made me jump quite a bit since I wasn't expecting it.
Now the back side as it is going down to anchor in the port. A few people around us said we really need to go watch it back up into port that it is pretty neat to see but we never did get around to that, maybe next trip :)
After the crowd of people left after watching the ferry come in this little guy ran from the one set of rocks on one side of the pier over to the other, I am not really sure what it was, but googling it may have been a mink.
We turned around shortly after and we saw that what we thought were clouds off in the distance was actually fog rolling in.
I heard a seagull over head and got this picture of the fog over the sun with the seagull
The fog came rushing in pretty quickly at this point. and then it was gone. All you can see is the end of the pier on the left.
We decided to head back to the hotel and we just managed to get inside before the rain came down in sheets, but that gave us time to rest from all the driving and our excitement before we headed out for our supper and evening fun.
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today,
Connie

oh connie, i really enjoyed these vacation images...lighthouses are one of my favorite things to photograph!! the skies are beautiful, i really like cloud filled skies and i adore a rain storm, and the timing for you was perfect!! the ferry is beautiful, i have motion sickness in the ocean, but have always been fine on a ferry!!
the seagull flight image is extraordinary!!!
Great pictures! When I saw the little mammal in the picture, I thought, it can’t be a badger, right? Like the name of the ship in the photos? But you are probably right that it is a mink.
When I was on vacation there was a particularly high tide, and I saw a little mammal come out of the marsh that I think was a muskrat. I had never seen one before. It was smaller than I would have though. I was glad there was a little identification book to browse.
Beautiful photos. I enjoy them.

What a beautiful place to visit! We went on a cruise once and though the ship seemed large to us, when it was in port, it was docked beside ships much larger than ours. How fun to catch that little critter in your photo!! So glad to share in your experience.
Hi, Connie - what awesome photos. You always capture beauty, texture, color - love these - and since it is a place I've never been, I appreciate not only the photos, but your description of each. Such a cute little mink! hugs, de
thank you sharing of your wonderful photos...
love to see a lighthouse....
have a great day
WOW these photos are awesome! Thanks for taking us on the journey with you through your amazing photography skills! I've never been up in that area so this was truly a very interesting read to me! THANKS
These bring back memories of living on Canada's east coast. When I lived on Prince Edward Island, there was no bridge, like there is today, so crossing could only be done by ferry. Thanks for the good memories.
Wonderful photos! That one with the seagull is unique!!!Hugs!
Beautiful photos.
Connie these photos are amazing! I love the sky in all of them oh, they are absolutely beautiful. I enjoyed tagging along on my bloghing sister's trips. What a lovely vacation.
Thank you so much for your prayers, you touched my heart.
The photos make me think of peace.
What great pics, Connie! It's interesting to see all the people standing around the lighthouse and the folks walking out to it. Looks like they're walking on water! I wonder if they're all still out there in the fog. It might be hard to find their way back! Love the ferry shots. That's something we don't see here, but I used to enjoy the ferries in the Seattle area. Also the ferry going from Washington to Vancouver Island, BC. I hope I can get some vacation pics up soon. Thanks for sharing. Now I'm going to look at the rest of your posts.
Amazing photos!
