I made two cards using the same stamp and also the same die cut for the background. The cardstock was a little lighter then I wanted so I decided to ink it up, as I was getting ready to ink it after die cutting, I thought how it looked like a stencil and then thought I need to make my second background at the same time, so I took a piece of cardstock a little bigger then the die cut and added my die cut over it and did my inking over the die cut, when I pulled it away I thought it looked great.
I added some pattern paper behind the die cut on the first one.
- Tim Holtz - Simple Plaid background die
- Crafter's Companion - Advent Calendar Stamped pumpkins in barrel color w/markers
- Memory Box - Stitched Circle layers die
- Poppystamps - Nordic Rings die
- EK success - Pumpkin and Leaf punches
- JoAnn Scrapbook - Vellum Sentiment
I decided to do the card horizontal this time and change up the dies behind the stamped image.
I think I actually like this background better than the original :)

I like the pumpkins!
2 really beautiful cards for giving thanks. pretty background papers, i love those 2 pumpkins in the wheelbarrow....reminding us we all have much to be thankful for!!
What a creative and clever approach to making two cards at once! I love how you turned the die cut into a stencil for a beautiful layered effect. The inking technique really brings out the design, and the subtle shift to a horizontal layout with the background change gives it a fresh twist. Both cards have such great autumn vibes, and I especially love the addition of the vellum sentiment—it really softens the overall look. Such an inspiring project, and I can see why you’re fond of the second background!
