Tulips

I am really not sure what these flowers are but we are going to say they are tulips :) Well some of them anyway.
Using another one of my coloring calendar images today. I colored w/pencils again.

The poor little bird was cut off a little bit at the top, I am thinking these maybe little parts of bigger pictures that she has drawn that they use for the calendar art.

Sky's the limit

It feels like it has been awhile since I have had to make a card for my great nephews.  I used the paper and stamp set from My mind's eye. I stamped the rocket with london fog ink and the stars with gold ink. A little inking on the torn strip with blue ink.

Difficult time

What I love about card making is we can send our well wishes, share happiness and let those know who are going through rough times that we are thinking of them and praying for them.
This was for one of the challenges in my group but I did not do it correctly, I guess, so I won't try to explain it, but I thought I would share my finished results anyway :)

I first used the stencil on the background, then stamped the flowers, colored them with markers and fussy cut them out, popping it up with foam tape, stamped the borders, I used some sparkle pen on the sun.

Cardmaking and Papercraft - Pretty florals stamp, colored with markers
Joggles - Sunshine stencil using Mustard seed ink
Wink of stella clear glitter pen on sun
Crafters companion - pretty borders stamp
Stampendous - Sincere sentiments stamp

VBS is this week at church, usually I am so exhausted after and this time I am helping with the snacks thinking that wouldn't be as tiring, well let's just say I slept very well last night :)  It is so good to see all the kids so happy and having fun, so it is worth it.

Hope your week is off to a good start and thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Kissing Stamp Technique

The next challenge was to do some stamp kissing and I believe I have tried this before but it is fun to do something you haven't done in a long time. HERE is a link to Wendy's video where she shows how to do the technique.

I first started out with my flower stamp which is mostly solid, I inked the stamp with blue ink, then I applied it to my background stamp to pick up the canvas detail.  I didn't get much of the canvas imprint on it but I did like how it turned out.

Hero Arts - Silhouette Flower stamp
Stampin up - Canvas Background stamp
Whimsy stamps - simple sentiments
Stickles - Diamond
Jute

After I finished doing that stamping I went to clean my background stamp and saw the impression stamping into it did so I took another plain piece of cardstock and placed it over the inked part and rubbed the back to pick up the ink, that is when I got the impression for my second card.

In the video she also shows how you can ink the background stamp, then stamp your solid stamp into it and then stamp off onto paper to get a whole other look, so that is what I tried for my next card.  I used the same canvas stamp for the flowers but I used a vine background stamp for the leaves.

I like how you can get many different patterns from your solid stamps using this technique.

Hampton Art - Flower Amaze stamp (flowersand leaves and sentiment)
Stampin up - canvas background stamp for flowers
$ Store- Vine background stamp for leaves

I have one more challenge to share, it has been a fun week of challenges.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today, hope you have had some time to be crafty this weekend.

Masking

The next challenge I tried was to do Masking. We were to find something like a frame and do Mortise masking, which I had never heard of, but it is masking an object and filling it in, instead of making a mask and stamping around it, you may be better off googling it for yourself, I am not great at explaining :)

Here I stamped my window then stamped again onto scrap paper and cut out just the panels of the window. I laid that mask over my stamped window and began to make a scene outside my window by stamping the cabin and deer. I stamped those again onto scrap paper to make a mask and covered them so I could stamp in my grass and the mountains for the background. I did all my sponging with ink and then took off the masks and did the rest of the coloring.

After that was all done I masked the whole window so I could stamp my wood planks for the wall.
It is hard to believe this is a one layer card.

I don't do masking much at all, but this challenge was fun to create the scene and I just may do it more often

I would like to add this to the Lavinia World Challenge

Treasures to Remember - Window stamp
Gina K - Life is good stamp set, Cabin and deer
Gina K - Winter trees stamp set, Mountain stamp
D.R.S. designs - easy grass background stamp
