We were in Michigan this past weekend and week, celebrating my great niece and nephews graduations and family reunion. Oh it is always good to get a dose of family :) We also went up to Mackinac bridge and back down through an area we haven't been before, it's great visiting those old familiar places but exciting to see new things too. I am getting caught up on visiting all your blogs.
The beginning of June my little brother celebrated his 50th birthday and this is the card I sent to him, using a clipart image of a bird from Anna Griffin, wish I could color that well.
I used the wood embossing folder and added a bit of ink with a brayer after embossing, then a little burlap paper and kraft cardstock for the sentiment.
Tim Holtz - Woodgrain embossing folder
Anna Griffin - Avian Collection (bird)
whimsy stamps - simple sentiments
DCWV - Burlap paper

It is HOT here in the 90's with heat index in the 100's, we should get out of the excessive heat warning by Tuesday, this is way too early in the year for these temps. So thankful we were able to go to Michigan and enjoy some normal temps.
Hope you all have a great weekend and thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and say Hi :)

Such a great revelation about your loving family with so few words, Connie! You sound like a marvelous auntie, too! Glad the graduation celebrations were fun, and this card is GORGEOUS! I love it! Your brother will enjoy the earthiness and masculine theme. Have a great weekend! hugs, de
Lovely card,dear Connie!
How lovely to be able to celebrate graduations and catch up with family in Michigan. Yes it is always a wonderful thing to see family. This is a fabulous card for your brother. The bird is indeed lovely and I love the tree it is sitting on. Another perfect card with a masculine flavor. Oh dear those temperatures do sound a little hot, though in saying that wish it was hot down here. =)
I love this masculine card, Connie! That woodgrain background is perfect for you bird, and the burlap across the bottom adds just the right touch! I know what you mean about coloring -- I'm trying to improve mine, but it's slow going!
Of course you can colour that well Connie. Love the background effect with using the brayer, and the burlap is definitely a fabulous finish.xx
Clever idea using the wood background with your bird. Thanks for the inspiration I needed for my owl stamps. Enjoy your day, Connie.
Very pretty bird card. I like the natural look of the wood and the burlap.
Yes, it is supposed to get very hot here for a couple days. Not sure we will be able to get used to it fast enough.
A stunning masculine card, I particularly love the woodgrain background lightly inked.
Fantastic masculine card, Connie! Love how you've inked up the wood grain and added the simple burlap border. I've been hearing about the heat over on that side of the continent. We're heading to high desert country tomorrow and hope it's not that hot there, but I don't think it will be. It's always hotter in the valleys.
You are so talented!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!! That tornado came too close for comfort!
Hugs,
Debbie
That bird is perfectly amazing! And your textured wood grained background is the perfect backdrop! Fantastic masculine card!
