Birds

I bought this stamp last year and never ended up using it.  When I was googling Robins I found that the robins in the UK have a little different coloring than those I see around here, ours have orange or red breasts that go all the way down but I found some that were like this stamp that only go down to their breast and their belly and tails are a lighter gray than their backs, so I went with that to color these, since the stamp is from England.

On the first one I added a little gel pen.

I tried some blue shading around one and wasn't sure I liked it so I went with the yellow shading around the other two, which do you like better?

I used both Neenah cardstock and Bristol smooth card stock for these. The Neenah card stock is the one with the blue shading.  Not sure which I like better, think they are pretty close, I had never done a comparison before to see which I liked better.

I feel like there should be more shading around the birds or shading around the edges of the card. What do you think?  The good thing about making them way ahead of time is if I want to change things I have the time to do it, usually I am getting the cards made and right out in the mail, no time for changes.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope that your week is off to a wonderful start.

they are both gorgeous, if i have to pick a favorite, it would be the yellow shading!!

I love all of them. Each one gives a different feel to the card. My first thought was "yellow" but then when I looked at the "blue" it looked terrific too.

How interesting that Robins are different colours in England. Funny, eh?!

The colouring on your birds is done to perfection.

Well done Connie! Thanks for the difference in bird coloring info ... interesting! Yes you might need a 'sky' behind your beautiful birds ...even some blue chalk would be a nice highlight around/behind them. Great job!

Such cute cards, I love that stamp! I like both ways of outlining them. The yellow always reminds me of sunshine and the blue of sky.

Such pretty birds! I think I'd have to say I prefer the blue shading. When I want to keep things clean and simple, but they look just a tad too "plain" to me.... I tend to to 1. cut my card front slightly smaller than the actual card 2. distress the edges by running an open pair of scissors along the edges, and 3. mat it on a piece of black card stock.
However, your cards are pretty just he way they are!

Beautiful. That's a card best put in a frame.

I like all three of them Connie! I agree that a little blue sky in the background would be a nice touch. What a darling little bird stamp!

These robins are cuter than ours, I think. If I had to pick just one, I'd pick the blue shading, but I like both. I do use yellow shading frequently, too. Also, I love the clean look of these so I don't know if shading around the card edges would make them any more appealing. It's a matter of what the artist wants, and YOU are the artist!
