Masking

The next challenge I tried was to do Masking. We were to find something like a frame and do Mortise masking, which I had never heard of, but it is masking an object and filling it in, instead of making a mask and stamping around it, you may be better off googling it for yourself, I am not great at explaining :)

Here I stamped my window then stamped again onto scrap paper and cut out just the panels of the window. I laid that mask over my stamped window and began to make a scene outside my window by stamping the cabin and deer. I stamped those again onto scrap paper to make a mask and covered them so I could stamp in my grass and the mountains for the background. I did all my sponging with ink and then took off the masks and did the rest of the coloring.

After that was all done I masked the whole window so I could stamp my wood planks for the wall.
It is hard to believe this is a one layer card.

I don't do masking much at all, but this challenge was fun to create the scene and I just may do it more often

I would like to add this to the Lavinia World Challenge

Treasures to Remember - Window stamp
Gina K - Life is good stamp set, Cabin and deer
Gina K - Winter trees stamp set, Mountain stamp
D.R.S. designs - easy grass background stamp
Fun Stampers Journey- Board wall background stamp
Spellbinders - A2 Distressed Edges die

Thanks so much for stopping by today,

Connie

Oh, wow, I totally get it. This is so cool! You did two different kinds of masking and I have to say you chose perfect stamps for the technique. I love the scene outside the window and the cabin wall inside. Love this, Connie!

What a fantastic job with the multiple masking elements, Connie! I especially like that it appears we are looking through a window at the lovely wildlife scene! It's like one of your photos put to paper! Gorgeously done! It would be a great card to upload to the Lavinia World challenge! hugs, de

I too, have never heard of Mortise Masking. This card is fabulous, Connie. I love all the detail, looking out the window. Love the wood planks and the window, too. Yes, I can see you having much fun with this technique. I can only imagine how you will use this fabulous method over and over again.
