I shared a card last time for the girl that got married last year, but because of pandemic we couldn't have a shower for her. Well I think most of her friends and family must have bought presents for her last year because when I went on the registry there wasn't much to pick from, well I decided to get this cake plate for her. After I bought it I remembered seeing a picture of a cake plate that had a decoration on it instead of a cake and I thought that was a neat idea for those times that you don't have a cake.
I remembered for my daughters wedding we had bought a bunch of these plates that were clear and had center pieces on them for her table decorations, they were in my garage all wrapped up nicely so I grabbed one, washed it up and made some flowers to put on top. Her kitchen colors are navy blue and her favorite color is yellow so that is what I went for to make the arrangement. I also found a candle with the scent of lemonade to put in the center :)
I shaped the flowers by cutting them out from patterned paper with my dies and then lightly inking the edges with a little darker yellow ink, then I flipped them over and lightly misted with water before shaping them using my stylus and a foam mat, the centers were made by crunching together two of the smallest dies in the set, each flower was 5 layers. The smallest flowers were punches that I shaped the same way to fill in the blank spaces. I used blue patterned paper for the leaves too!
The doily piece below was cut with my big scalloped dies.
Just before I was getting ready to wrap the present I thought I should show you how it looked on the wooden cake stand I bought for her. But it was to big for my light box I use for my cards so here it is on a table near the best lighting in my house :)
It was fun to create a project to go along with the gift :)
Thanks so much for taking the time to drop by today and say Hi,
Connie
