Shaped Card

The next challenge was to make a shaped card, I will have to say I don't make many different shaped cards but usually try to do something different for my sisters card.  I had made a box card for my other sister a few years back but with hers I had to measure everything out and score and cut it all myself.  This time I was able to use a die I had bought from Spellbinders when they were having their half off dies sale a while back.  The die comes with one panel die so you have to cut it 4 times to get your box, but the tabs and score lines are in the die :)  Then I cut them all again with pattern paper to decorate the box, cutting them apart to fit in the right squares, so it may take the same amount of time to make this but so much easier not having to think of where to cut and score.

The scalloped borders were also dies that came with the set.  I had done all flowers on my other sisters card, so this time I had decided to go with a little scene, this sister has cats so I added one to the scene. As you can see the tree goes above the box a bit so I did have to put it in a bigger envelope but I just loved the way it looked taller than the card.

Spellbinders - Scalloped Pop up box, Sentiments one dies
Cosmo Cricket - Girl Friday paper
Impression Obsession - Bare Tree, Cat set and small grass dies
Fiskars - grass punch
Memory Box - Grove leaves die
Matha Stewart - butterflies and small flower punch
Enamel accents - white

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope all of you that are in the states enjoy your labor day weekend, be safe!

Well done! I really need to take a day and whip up some of these! Your's is adorable! Great job! Yes, I do it from 'scratch' but will have to look ... I think I bought the die (way too much 'stuff' ... can't keep track of what I have and what I don't! lol) Thanks for inspiration!

Bravo!!! This is sensational :)
Your ability to make beautiful and interesting cards blows my mind.
If you lived closer we could swap paper crafting lessons for quilting lessons :)
Would we have fun!
Keep Smiling,
Connie :)

Oh, no you didn't! Wow, just look at this! Incredibly special. Love the paper and the whole scene. You made the cat look so realistically like a Siamese the way you sponged it. Fantastic, Connie!

Connie, I've yet to try to make one of these box cards. I've seen them referred to as exploding cards. :-)

You have inspired me to be brave and make one asap!

Very pretty and fancy card! I love the green paper you cut the box from, it ties everything together like you are out in the garden looking at the scene. Great job!

Oh Wow oh Wow!! You are quite simply brilliant, Connie. This card oozes fun, fun, fun. What a clever idea. Love everything about this design...the pretty green paper, the cats, the teeny tiny flowers...AND the tree. The tree is fabulous!

I so love the box card and am toying with the idea for my step daughter's wedding. Unfortunately I don't have a die like you do. You did a fantastic job with this box card--one of the best I've seen around. Your sister is going to be over the moon crazy for it.

What a fun card Connie! I love shaped and pop-up cards. The die-cut tree looks great as the focal point.
