Ink Swipe Technique

One of the gals in my stamp group had a challenge to use a credit card to swipe ink across your card to make interesting backgrounds.  I only tried it on Bristol smooth card stock, they were more adventurous and tried it on watercolor and glossy.

You can google Ink Swipe technique if you want to give it a try, I didn't do something write because I couldn't get long swipes and the card I did manage to do that by continuous adding on to me little swipes looked awful that went into the trash.

We were to use at least 3 inks, and make a card out of at least one of 3 backgrounds we made.
Here are the 3 I made.

Crafters companion - Sheena - Silhouette Grass stamp
Versafine ink with clear embossing powder
Distress Oxides - Tattered Rose, Pumice stone, and Abandoned coral
Hero Arts - All Occasion messages stamp sentiment
Lawn Fawn - Fancy Scalloped Rectangle
Sparkle confetti

I really don't see me trying this technique again but I have seen others have had wonderful results.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a Blessed Sunday!

Connie

Hmmm I don't think I've ever tried this technique and I can see where the choice of paper & ink could make a huge difference! Since I'm STUCK in the cave today (close to a foot of snow already), might have to give it a whirl! Thanks for inspiration! Have a great day!

Cool background Connie. Love the look, especially with that silhouette image. So striking with the intense black.

You made an interesting background, Connie, even if it didn't turn out as you intended. Actually, I like it! Very artsy and pretty colors. Whether a crisp black silhouette like this, or an image panel over top, I think it's way cool!

Connie! I LOVE LOVE LOVE how your backgrounds came out. You sound disappointed, but I actually prefer the visual interest compared to the long strips of ink. I am going to try to do it your way. LOVE THEM - can you tell I like what you have done? I especially like your choice of silhouette stamps, too! Hope you are staying warm. We will be below freezing in the morning! Yikes! And it was 80 yesterday! Wishing you a great week! hugs, de

That's certainly different.
You do sound a little disappointed though.
It looks a lovely shade of pink.

Hope your weekend has been good, my good wishes for the new week ahead.

All the best Jan

I read your post twice and then I realized that the card you through in the trash was not your "credit" card but your greeting card. Yikes! Love the pink best. xo

So cool Connie! Not always necessary to buy tools when every day objects work so well! lol Great idea to punch the sides too, and the stamping really pops on that background! TFS~ Hugs, karen o
