Weekend away

I have been gone since last Friday, my hubby took me to Arkansas for my birthday weekend, he had read about a pretty garden there called Garvan woodland gardens, and that there would be blooming Daffodils and Tulips, the temps were a little below what he thought they would be but it was just perfect in the 60's.

The trail through the park was almost 4 miles, now let me just say I haven't walked 4 miles all at once since last summer or fall and oh boy was I way out of shape, but I still enjoyed it so much it was the best part of the trip and it was the first thing we did the morning after we arrived.  I will post about our trip to the gardens in between posting cards.

This park had many beautiful waterfalls throughout so you were almost always coming up to another and I just love the sound of water flowing so I loved that part too.

There were many blooming bushes and trees too so that was such a nice surprise.

They had a really easy to walk through path and then more that was like this one that you could take if you wanted to explore more.

A lot of the trees had buds or leaves just forming, there just isn't anything like spring after a long winter.

This tree was leaning over the pond and it was so white that the area under it just glowed.

This was one of the biggest waterfalls, the others were smaller.

Are you seeing pops of spring where you live?  To those of you who visit from Australia, I appreciate that you share your summer photos when we are going through the depths of winter, reminds me that soon we too will be enjoying beautiful flowers and warmer temperatures once again :)

Thanks to those of you who gave suggestions on what to write on the inside of my cat card too, I will write them all down and use on future cards too :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Oh, wow, what a beautiful place to visit! So nice to see the flowers blooming and the trees! OMW, that tree over the water! Love the waterfalls and the steps and winding paths. This would be such a wonderful place for a 4 mile walk. I'm glad the weather was good for you. Nice temperature for walking. Our last few days have been incredibly beautiful and we've been outside a lot. Clouding up to rain again, but we sure enjoyed it while it lasted.. Very spring like weather. Thank you so much for sharing your photos. I'll look forward to more!

Happy Birthday!

My spring flowers are getting ready to bloom. Finally, the deer didn't eat them as they poked out of the ground.

Happy Birthday! That looks like a fun way to spend the day! And I know exactly where you were...I grew up about 30 miles from there! Looks like you're having lovely weather too. That's a long way to walk! You did great! Hugs!

Hi Connie, I really enjoyed the description of your walk through this forest.
I found the photos of the pink and red flowers beautiful. In Portugal we call it "camellia" and now there are several exhibitions of "camellias" in the country. He likes to show off the "camellia" pictures I have on my balcony, but here I can not insert photos.
The latitude of Arkansas and Portugal is quite similar so the "camellias" bloom at the same height.
Thank you for your post and ... Congratulations, but late

This Aussie girl is so happy that Spring is beginning to bud up there. The beautiful white blossoms showing off on that tree, reflecting in the still water is an amazing photo. Love the photo of that bridge, too. How wonderful to get away and enjoy all that nature has to offer. Happy Birthday to you, lovely Connie.
