Embossing with dies

Memory Box challenge this month is to use embossing. I went with embossing one of my foliage dies from them and then also cutting out the die and laying it on top. I also used their owl dies to add to it,

I needed a card for my brother and since my kraft cardstock was on the thin side I decided to use a piece of chipboard I had and either I didn't use the correct sandwich in my Gemini machine or the cutting is just that good because it cut through in a couple of places and even gave me a deeper embossing than I had planned on, but it stands out nicely that way.

I used pattern paper for both the one I die cut out and for the owls, the wings and the eyes come out of the one owl die and then it also has a back die for each of them, I glued the wings back in but I let the brown paper that I backed it with be the eyes for the owls and I added some white gel pen to them.

I love when we can get more use out of our dies.  At the very end I decided to use some paint to make dots for the background and the paint was to thin and it just soaked into the chipboard.
You still have time if you want to play along in their challenge this month.

I thought I would share some pictures I took around my yard.

My hubby was gifted this lilac bush after his father passed away, we can't remember what kind it was but I think it was some type of miniature lilac.

Can you see the dew on the petals, I thought that was so pretty.

And last this robin was keeping an eye on things at the bird feeder.  I can't tell you how nice it was after we bought this feeder, we had so much problems with the squirrels coming and just dumping everything out of the old feeder and made a mess on the ground, now it is fun to watch them try to figure out how to get in the feeder.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by,

Connie

Oooo...I love your mirror image embossed in the background with your dies! It's always fun to try something new, isn't it?!

that embossed background with those sweet little owls is darling against the pretty die cut! Fabulous card, Connie! And so are our garden flowers. We have that bird feeder, too, but some of the squirrels became wise enough to get into it, hanging upside down from the top by their hind toes, and holding the bottom open with one paw, and scooping out seeds with the other! LOL Then we tried repainting it, and making it slippery again. So we only have one of those feeders now. But they are been here for 25 years and worked great until rusting a little. We bought a new squirrel proof feeder that is even better! I'm hoping yours stays working for a long time, because it's fun seeing the birds enjoying themselves. We also like that we can manipulate the weight so smaller birds can sit and feed. They larger birds have to "stay in flight" and grab and fly their food! LOL Thanks for sharing! xx

Very nice card. I like the different texture with the dies and embossing and the cute owls! I wonder which feeder that is? I have the exact same yellow one for my finches.

I rather love your 'mistake', Connie. The thicker cardboard gives a lovely impression for the leaves. This is a fantastic card. Your Lilac is pretty and a little dew on flowers is always fabulous to see. It looks as if Spring is warming up at your place.

Oh, those owls! Wouldn't you know it's the birds that grab my attention first, but the whole card is so cute with the chipboard and the leafy die cut. The Gemini must be one heck of a machine! Connie, I swear I'm sitting here right now smelling lilacs. Not kidding. Such a sensual impact that photo has when you know the fragrance associated with it. Gorgeous iris, too. That has always been one of my favorite iris colors. Yes, I see the dew drops. So pretty! Thanks for the visit to your yard!

Such a clever idea to emboss the die into the card, then lay a die cut over it, I must give this a try!
Love the cute owls too. Gorgeous photos of your garden.

Such a cute, cute card. I'm an owl lover and think this card rocks. I love how you're always up to experimenting. The results are terrific. The blue leaves are a lovely change from the green that we typically use.

Nice photos of your back yard. Liliacs are out in bloom where I live too. Finally, a sense of spring.

Connie, I had to do a double take on your cards as I thought they were flowers with eyes! Which would have been good but I'm kind of glad they are owls! So sweet!

Love your flowers ❀
