When of the ladies in my card making group asked if we could make a card for her mother, she has moved to a 55+ community and needs some words of encouragement for this new path she is going into. I had bought the new Mini wreath template from Gina K at the stamp show I went to at the beginning of the month so I tried it out, I started with a 2 3/8 inch square after using my stamps to make the wreath I hand cut around the outside and use my circle die to cut the inside. Now I had to figure out how I would use it on my card, I finally came up with the idea to make a door using my spellbinder dies to hang the wreath on.
I first embossed two kraft paper sheets with a woodgrain embossing folder, cut the door and the rectangles and squares from Spellbinder dies, inked around the edges and added an enamel dot for the door knob. I planned on making steps up to the door but that didn't turn out so I put the sentiment down at the bottom. Topped off with some stickles for the flower centers. Added a few dots around the wreath with my fine tip sharpie marker.
GinaK - mini wreath builder template and wreath builder bundle for the leaf stamp
Stamps of life - Minis4circles for flowers on wreath
Crafters companion - wood grain embossing folder
Spellbinders - A2 matting basics A&B, square and circle dies
Ms.Sparkle & co. - Marble paper pad
Stamp on it - Sentiment sticker, colored w/brown marker
Paper studio - enamel dot
Stickles - Platinum on flower centers
I am so thankful that my parents and my inlaws were all able to stay at their original homes before they all past away, I can only imagine how hard it is to move if that is not your wish to do so.
Hope you all are enjoying the start of this new week, I am trying to stay positive although our whole week has rain forecasted for every day, hopefully there will be some sunshine in there somewhere.
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today!
Connie

I love door/wreath cards and yours turned out perfectly! I'm sure it will cheer your friends mom and help her with the transition!
What a thoughtful creation, Connie, and I'm sure an encouraging one for your friend's mom. We all have those seasons in our lives where major changes take place! Your parents certainly were blessed. Thanks for sharing your pretty card! hugs, de
What an adorable card with so much demension and detail. You're so sweet to have made this for a friends mom. My weather forecast is not any better than yours.
I don't think you could have come up with a better idea for a new home card! A wreath on the door is a welcoming sight. Very clever how you made the door. The wood grain folder gives a very realistic effect. Pretty wreath, too! Sorry about your rain, Connie. It finally stopped here and now I hope it doesn't stay gone till winter. It rarely rains here in the summertime.
Really pretty card! I love your door and how you cut out the wreath. The circle die works great in the middle, but hand cutting the outside does add something special. I hope she gets used to the assisted living. It’s hard, but there is better social lives at places like that, sometimes, in addition to getting the care one needs.
Making difficult decisions about living arrangements is so difficult, and hard to think about. I love the card you designed, it really is a beauty! Such a blessing to have a card making group! We had a lady here who was an SU demo, and she had monthly shoebox swaps that I loved to attend, but sadly her husband passed away, and she had to move to AZ to be with her daughter. I miss those gatherings! I hope you have a lovely week of crafting, the weather doesn't sound that great for being outside, but it is nice to be able to craft away indoors! Blessings :)
We have so many of these styles of communities here, people are always so pleased to live there. So much to do and new friends to meet, I am sure she will be fine! Love the card. I always adore a pretty wreath on a door, whether it be a home or an apartment or sometimes even my shed lol Great card!
such a cute card, i always send "new home" cards!! my mom is still in her house, the house i was raised in. she is 85 and has macular degeneration...she does not want to ever leave but i'm not sure how much longer she will be able to stay!!
we have looked into these communities, i think i would rather move now, then have to do it when i am older, and less able to help!!
Connie, oh my gosh I love your door and wreath! Perfect for this card's purpose!!
