50th Sunflowers

My brother and sister in law are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and I was stuck on what to do, I sat there in my room thinking and finally I came up with using the pattern on her bridesmaids dresses 50 years ago.  The dresses were covered in Sunflowers, so I covered the bottom of the card with stamped  sunflowers and to tie it in with the top I colored an extra one and fussy cut it out and put it onto my Gingham background.

  • Hero Arts - Sunflower stamp, colored w/markers
  • Pinkfresh - Classic edges die
  • Spellbinders - Captivating squares die
  • Taylored Expressions - Whimsy #s die
  • Impression Obsession -  Sentiments II stamp sentiment
  • Queen & co. - Twinkle goosebumps

I will be sharing my post today with the Double D Challenge blog with the challenge to use Summer Gingham.  I started making cards this way over 16 years ago and do you know this paper was one of the first papers I bought, guess it is about time I use it :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today.

Connie

What a good idea Connie had to go use the role she'd had for a long time. The role is beautiful and Connie did a beautiful job with it!

WOW what a GREAT idea for their anniversary card! I'm sure it will bring back beautiful memories immediately upon opening! Geesh .. 16 years and you still have some of your original paper? And I thought I was a paper hoarder! LOL (I probably have some of my original papers too but just not going to admit it! lol)
Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Double D ‘Summer Gingham’ challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often.

Well, I would say this gorgeous card is going to be quite the hit with the happy couple. I am very intrigued to hear you say the sunflowers were part of the bridesmaids dress material. You really got your thinking cap on. Adding the "50" was nice too. Thanks for the inspiration. I have several anniversary cards to make.

My daughter had an ice cream truck ready to serve curbside after everyone left the church. We all laughed because it was so unique and a fun surprise on such a hot day. Well, I bought the SU ice cream truck and for the last 7 years the truck has been centre of attention on their anniversary cards. I'm sure she's expecting the same again this year. But, I'll have her fooled by doing a flower arrangement on the front of the card, and the ice cream truck's back end on by the signature to make it look like it's driving off. LOL.

How exciting! FIFTY YEARS! We celebrated our 45th this year. It's hard to believe. Weren't we all young newly weds just a few years ago? I wish them many more happy years together. Your sunflower card is delightful, and they will cherish it. hugs, de
