Twisted Ribbon technique

Hi all, Donna and I were talking about a technique she was going to try for an upcoming post and I said oh I have that one on my to try list, we decided we should both try it and then share our cards on the same day, so here we go.

I went with an old paper pack that was double sided paper, chose these cute bees paper, on the other side was the honeycomb pattern.  I used the instructions found HERE for the technique.

I would suggest your first go around to use papers that you don't care about, I made a big mistake laying my first one down and that messed the whole thing up, luckily I had enough of this paper to still make a good panel.

I had a honey comb embossing folder to add with it and added ink to the raised portion of the embossing folder with a brayer so that when I embossed it I would have a yellow background.

I die cut some bees to fly around the card, and I used vellum for their wings. A Hexagon shape to stamp my sentiment onto. I kept the cardstock in the die to add some yellow to the center of the sentiment piece and then took black ink pad to go around to mimic the black piece that I matted my ribbon technique on. Finished it off with some yellow pearls.

  • Echo Park - Fine & Dandy papers
  • Paper Studio - Honeycomb embossing folder, inked with Distress Oxide Scattered straw ink
  • Spellbinders - Hexagon die inked center with yellow and outlined with black ink
  • Spellbinders - Special Birthday Sentiment stamp
  • Elizabeth Craft designs - Bees die
  • Queen & co. - Yellow Sunshine pearls

I invite you to stop by Donna's Blog Here and check out the Beautiful card she has made!

Thanks Donna for doing this with me.

Thanks to you for stopping by today,

Connie

Oh my goodness, Connie! Your double twisted ribbon is fabulous! It looks especially striking with the themed, yet differently colored papers. Such cheerful sweetness (pun intended) with the bee topic being central. What good advice to do a practice run first. Your spacing and criss-crossing is perfection. Thanks for partnering this technique tryout with me! Hugs, de

Oh, this is darling Connie. I'd say it's "BEE-autiful" but that's cheesy, huh? LOL Well, it's super cute and very creative. I always enjoy a bee card (even though I'm not crazy about bees, but who is? Right? It's so cute. Hope you're having a blessed day.

How beautifully this came together, Connie! Every piece ties in. Your embossing looks like a die cut because it's so perfectly inked. I believe I have some of that Fine and Dandy paper. What a great way to show both sides of this cute piece. I love it all!

First I love the bee theme on this card. I love bees and love that I have a garden full of plants to feed them. I have yet to try the twisted ribbon and really love how it looks on your card. I really need to try this.
